Feb 2022 blues one-shot guy-with-piano jazz
I had a brief time to spare and devoid of anything else pulled the permanently geared 12-bar blues lever hardwelded in my brain. This lyric of @mrgee1952 https://fawm.org/songs/131067/ had caught my eye earlier so as we've done stuff together before, I asked and was given, even though my interpretation is usually miles away from what @mrgee1952 intended (!) But the lyric had a bit more soul than I realised, accelerated in another direction different from what _I_ intended. Perhaps because I was trying a one-shot where I don't have control.
I like it, muffs and all, and have left the one-shot except for one line I forgot to sing, that got patched in. So I can still call it one shot, more or less, right? Right??
Lyrics here as-sung, not quite as-written.
CRYIN' BLUES

You got me cryin
Got me crying at the moon
Said you got me cryin’
Got me crying at the moon
You gonna see me crying and sobbing
Sobbing if you don’t come back soon
Yeah, if you don’t come back soon
You came into my life like a hurricane
Blow me off of my feet
Said you blew in like a hurricane
Knocked me off my feet
Now you see me in my abject misery
Hear me crying at the moon
Yeah, crying at the moon
[BR]
Man loved his woman
Woman didn’t love the man
Said this man loved his woman
Woman didn’t love the man
Harsh words, harsh words, harsh harsh words
Woman walks out on him
[BR]
Once upon a time I felt loved
Now I swim in a sea of pain
Said once upon a time I felt loved
Now I swim in a sea of pain
You gonna see me crying and sobbing
Sobbing if you don’t come back again

I love the soft voice and the elegant piano playing. It feels like it tries to be gentle and not add harsch sounds to a harsch situation. It sounds comforting instead.
I digg how 12 bar blues and the repetition of the first bit get the song deeper and more intense. I add it on my bucket list for next FAWM !
I wondered how a man can say he loved "his" woman when the woman didn't love the man back. I suppose it stresses out how confuse a heart pain can make you.
Well done.

Love the piano playing. Very well done. Vocal delivery is unconventional but works quite well here -- really conveys the emotional content of the lyrics. If I close my eyes, I can picture a darkened stage, the piano player lit by a single light, the air heavy with smoke. Nice collab you two. Enjoyed listening. #tit4tat

Love the jazzy/bluesy vibes here. The lyrics and music are beautiful and moving. Gorgeous singing and playing. Very special collaboration. I finished listening and it's hard to put into words how much I enjoyed listening to your song. Just sit here staring at my screen and thinking how words don't always care the meaning we have in our hearts. Thank you both very much.

Nice collab! That is some tasty piano.
@roddy Feb 2022
Very good collaboration. Nice to hear the blues written and played like this.

Love what you did with my lyrics "Cryin' Blues"!!!
It is a high point for me in this year's FAWM.
Thank You.

Love that Pentatonic scale! The chill piano vibe and vocals are so nice!
@cindyrella Feb 2022
Oh, what a savory blues song! The slow pace fits so well! Great lyrics too!
@skylermf Feb 2022
This is great! I love the piano part. The idea of “crying at the the moon” is such a creative and memorable image.

i like all the spaces between the lines, you are in no hurry to say what you have to say in words. piano does most of the talking.

It's interesting with the progression. I've done a ton of blues progressions this fawm, not intentionally, but I just keep playing and once I record the bass I notice that "ohh this is a blues prg too". It's somewhere in there.
Very moody the piano. Such a cool jazzy tone that rounded muzzled like raindrops on a dark pond.
Heart-wrenching vocal delivery. Great job.

Classic late night piano blues, very atmospheric and evocative.
@davidtaro Feb 2022
You had me from the opening bluesy piano rolls. Of course this counts as a one-take, incredibly impressive work in that context. Really enjoyed my listen, thank you!

Right!! Totally counts as a one-shot. (I mean, I'm counting it...I've totally done the same thing haha.) I like the interpretation here, you duck under with the energy in some unexpected places and it feels emotionally honest
