I think this one has some 60s British invasion in it somewhere.
Thx for bearing with the rough takes!
Hello Aileen
Hello, Aileen
Hello, can you hear me now
Aileen, is it clearer now
There's only silence on the line
Hello, Aileen
Hello, you can tell me now
Aileen, won't you tell me now
What's been weighing on your mind
I can hear you breathing, Aileen
Tell me what you're thinking, Aileen
Are you still believing
We can try
Hello, Aileen
Aileen, is there someone else
Someone that's calling you
At this hour of the night
For real, Aileen
Aileen, all I'm asking now
All that I'm asking now
Just be honest this time
I'm not trying to cage you, Aileen
Bend your will or change you, Aileen
I'm not here to make you
Change your mind
Satellites drift in space
The whole human race
Keeps going in circles
I'm waving straight for you
I'll find the way
But if, Aileen
Aileen, if I've lost you now
Don't say another word
Just leave it on the line
Now you being so quiet, Aileen
Are those tears you're crying, Aileen
I think we should try it
One more time
Hello Aileen…

This is a great melody. The whole thing sounds very natural and organic, you're not forcing words to fit a tune or vice versa, they just flow.

Oh, so sad...and so relatable. I think we've all been there, and you've captured it. Nice work.

I can hear the British pop vibe on this song. I love the laid-back conversational style of the lyrics, and the way you sing it tweaks the heartstrings. I enjoyed the listen very much. Beautiful song!

Oh, yes, I can hear this with full band sounding late 60s British rock-pop!

Another really good one, Ed. A sweet melody but a tearjerker of a lyric, a combo I've always liked. I don't know if the "narrator" is a hopeless optimist but I like the "voice" you've given him.

You are right, this lovely song has a very nice classic retro-British-pop-feel to it. Awesomely crafted lyrics and a very compelling vocal delivery! And by the way, Aileen is such a beautiful name, too...

Good stuff here, Ed. I definitely pick up on the British Invasion vibe, but even more of how that got interpreted by Robert Pollard and Guided By Voices. Your nice vocal even sounds a bit like him in places. This will be loads of fun for you to do with a full band. Hope you get a gig at SXSW!

These rough takes gives just great camp fire feeling here.
I could imagine bonfires glow in the dark night with bunch of hippies around it listening and jamming :)
