I do apologize for the lyric. I do a lot of gentle swearing in my songs, but this sort of crosses a line for me. I just went with the first thing that popped into my mouth.
I'm pretty happy to leave this one like this. As I've said ad nauseam, I'm an idea guy, not an execution guy. Mostly I just like to pitch song ideas to my imaginary band--or any real people who want to collaborate--and I think this recording actually captures the groove I'm going for. If anyone want to chip in, we could make this a banjo-driven song with electric guitar and such...and finish the arrangement...and the lyrics...jam it out at the end for as long as anyone wants to take it
Home
I'm talkin' 'bout home
I said home
I was sure as hell home...once
But I got off to other places
I was fucking other faces
I was fucking up and going alone
Now I'm not home
Now I'm not home
But I was sure as hell home...once
I was sure as hell home
I was sure as hell home
But I got off to other places
I was fucking other faces
I was fucking up and going alone
Now I'm not home

The bitterness and regret are so strong here, and over the driving Americana backing, it works very well as an admission of regret and, it kind of feels like to me, a confession of toxic masculinity (although I may be reaching a bit there). Definitely makes me think!

Love the "home" to "now I'm not home" journey. Vocals grittier than usual, befitting the country-ish tone. All the f*cks are actually poetic in a way and go really well the other f word (faces). Catchy as well!

Didn't mind the language a bit - loved the groove and the emotion in your vocal, powerful stuff. My past can relate to the lyric a lot.

Nice and minimal and hobo-riding-the-rails feel.

"I was sure as hell home once" -- so much anger, sorrow, and regret in that one line. Really captures a mood ....

Really like that guitar rhythm and the brushy drums. The minimal / repeated lyrics really pack a punch, this feels bleak and potent and slightly unsettling.

That guitar riff is great, really driving with that great percussion. Love the intensity of the lyrics too!

I love how much space this has. Really gives you the feel of longing, but I’m ok staying here for awhile.
