Wanted to write a song about the odd feelings of the pandemic. How we've become kind of OK just ignoring society and just making music on the weekends. i also didn't want to discount the fact that its total shit. the whole damn thing. so the chorus is a bit of a play on that, with the "im so happy" bits not being what one would consider happy ....
not sure if any of that made sense, ha.
we think we'll mix this better and I'll re-sing this later for the album. but this will do for now.
Lyrics:
yesterday we finished that song,
when its just you and me,
we’re no longer gutted
yesterday we landed in visions
of the times before,
the world never in disrepair
these days fall away
yes it does
these days kinda stray
i'm so happy
living oh so absently
i’m so damn happy
not caught in catastrophe
i'm so happy
reveling in apathy
i'm so damn happy living that absentee life
yesterday we offered our prose
when its just you and me
surrounded by words we chose
yesterday we polished that tune
when its just you and me
theres no time to be forgot
these days fall away,
these days kinda stray
i'm so happy
living oh so absently
i’m so damn happy
not caught in catastrophe
i'm so happy
reveling in apathy
I'm so damn happy
livin that absentee life

I can hear all kinds of genres in this one. It's like it sits between krautrock, trip-hop and indie rock. I like the chugging guitars and the surf rock guitars in the first verse which are evocative of Chris Isaak. Sultry and smooth. Nice!

You two continue to impress with your ability to bounce between genres! Nice harmonies, and the reflective lyrics suit the tone of the music to a tee. Love that shift at the midway point with the big airy sizzle sound, before everything kicks up a gear.

I really enjoyed melting into this one -as always, your vocal deliveries are enchanting. Love the slow build and the evolving soundscape.

Ahhh this has such a lovely flow to it and those harmonies simply had me swooning and yea i can totally sync into everything with the lyrics. I love the fact the i'm so happy bit is juxtaposed with the minor based chord progression. Totally unexpected but works a treat for the irony of the words. Great job

Ooo, a distinct lack of (as much) reverb here :) I always love the space you create in your mixes, and I love how much you've smallened it here. Some tasty jazzy chords in here, with a real indie-pop slant. Brings to mind the likes of Beach House and the Xx. I think the irony of "I'm so happy" comes across nicely!

This is great, your vocals are so sickly sweet and then when then big guitar comes along when you are singing I'm so happy give it a kind of sarcasm I really like. There are some male vocals I would have liked to have heard more of, they sounded really nice with your vocals. Reminds me of the xx.

This is lovely. The gentle vocals are beautiful and love how you add the chuggy guitar which dirties it up to take it to another place.
This is a really modern sound, really likeable. Simple and clever. So good.

I dig the cognitive dissonance of how the “I’m so happy” is delivered. Great slacker vibe to this. Atmospheric, moody, low-key rocker. The vocal harmonies are great!
