I wrote a love song for my older dog Lewis (check out "Close to You"), so figured I better write one for Roger the wild pup. I swear the WOOF in the last chorus was NOT scripted. My dogs literally busted into my studio while I was recording. I did ad lib the rest of the final chorus after the "please don't wrestle in here" line. Oh, sweet Roger. He really is so cute.
VERSE 1
I made coffee without the beans
Put the cornflakes in the fridge
and the skim milk in the pantry
Because you occupy so much of my mind
Always needing my attention and finding ways
to distract me
Chorus
I love you
but you’re driving me fucking crazy
I get no sleep
I know you
only wanna be with me
But I just need
a moment of reprieve
Verse 2
You make me laugh every day
with your unrelenting energy
and your ridiculous ways
Plowing headfirst into everything
Oblivious to the string
of destruction in your wake
Chorus
Bridge
And you’re so sweet
in the moments in between
With your sleepy loving eyes
when you’re lying next to me
maybe I wish I was more like you
not afraid to tell the world
of my each and every need
And going after it tirelessly
Chorus
I love you
but you’re driving me fucking crazy.
I get no sleep
I know you…
Woof!
Woah!
Hi guys…
Just trying to record here….
Please don’t wrestle in here….
Roger, what do you have in your mouth?
what do you have in your mouth?
drop that!
Who made this mess?
No! Don’t eat that!
Socks are not for breakfast!
Stop!
No, I don’t know where your ball is.
Easy…easy
Good boy…for now….
It’s a good thing you’re so cute!

Roger is NSFW. Also I was getting worried about the looks Tony was bound to get if you ever play this live but thankfully you let him off the hook in the last third. But really up until that point, it's a bittersweet rock tune about a deeply flawed paramour and that worked. So realistic, such truth. And such fun. In the British, SFW version, they say "barking mad," btw.

Oh wow, this reminds me SO much of my dog! The chorus is super catchy. The verses are funny and heartfelt and the bridge brings in the wisdom we can learn from them. Wonderfully structured song. The final chorus is superb. Love the a cappella start, the barks and the spoken parts! So fun, relatable and something I will be singing often.

Holy shit, this is so catchy! I love how much you can feel the tension in the verses, that resolve somewhat with “I love you but…”. Good work!

It's funny how songs about dogs could just easily be about people…until the adlibs at least. I must have listened Martha My Dear 1000 times before I ever knew that Paul McCartney wrote it for his Old English Sheep Dog. Catchy chorus and I can totally relate to it with my shaggy little maniac. The adlibs are inspired … really work to wind out the song.

Absolutely love the melody! The harmonies on the chorus are perfect and you've got great lyrics! The ad lib at the end is so funny and relatable, it fits the song perfectly! Epic job!
