yesterday, jack (@carljungmallcop) sent me (mark, @silvermediapro) the instrumental for this track. i sped it up a tad & did some vocals over it.
no ayahuasca was consumed in the making of this tune (i think it would terrify me tbh), but it's a phenomenal subject matter to make into lyrics. ;P
you're looking for a shaman, you need a bitter potion
this feeling's temporary, it all appears in motion
a doorway in the jungle, a path to something spicy
dont look down at the ticket, i know it's kinda pricy
you're looking for the brahmin, but you ain't going inward
you wanted to be silent, but also get the last word
a door through your neurosis, a portal to the heavens
you haven't seen the phoenix since nineteen sixty-seven

This definitely plays strongly against the reverence and ritual normally associated with shamanic experiences. The rap section teeters on the edge of being all-out smug, but largely avoids it.
But if you think ahahuasca is terrifying, you should read Michael Pollan's history of psychedelics, "How To Change Your Mind". His account of taking toad venom sounds like the mental equivalent of strapping yourself to the outside of a Saturn V...

Got here on random and saw the title like “FINALLY”.
This groove and timbre palette is antithetical to the concept of Ayahuasca in my mind and that might be my favorite part of this experience. Also it’s just a straight up yummy, Jamiroquai-moved-into-Snail’s House kinda neon lights dance groove and frankly, I’m all about it.

I wanna dance.

Whew!!! so much fun :D
I love how much the jungle bit contrasts without sounding out of place. Stellar!

Oooh, love the effects on this! Funky beat! Repetitive vocals with the rap - so cool!
