Feb 2022 folk harmonies finger picking
A song, with some odd background noises, but hey, it's FAWM!
By the clearing all is quiet
The trees bend slowly in the breeze
Squirrels scamper along branches
Birds fly overhead
In the distance, drums are beating
Raising hopes of victory
Farmers slowly join together
Fighting for their piece of land
In the city streets are empty
No sense in going out
Stay home and watch the broadcasts
So very little can be done

Oh, lovely!
Clearly cheese and wine are conducive to nice harmonies :D

This song conveys such power through its gentleness. I love how you shift from themes of nature with very little human involvement, to a direct scene of human triumph with Neil Young-esque social consciousness infused into the lyrics (focusing on the connection between farmers' rights and broader labor issues is a very cool late-80s heartland rock theme in general!), then shifting to discussion of social distancing and virtual events in light of how COVID has changed our society, and then back to our original natural tableau. I like how you don't shy away from using both parallel thirds and fourths in your harmonies, people think of fourths as something to avoid sometimes but when used properly (as here!) they can really enrich the harmonic language of a song. Great work!
