Second Story
She always wanted a house with two stories
Was just a matter of time
Between her and the guy that she married
The American dream was what they
We’re gonna find
Pick the neighborhood; pick the siding
Make sure the grass will grow well
The first story’s where you entertain friends
Second story’s one you hide like hell
First story’s full of smiles and sunshine
Neighbors jealous of that curb appeal
Another plot unfolds behind the shutters
She got her two-story facade,
But her loneliness is real…
When the sun is setting down on her town
Shadows stretch across the floor
She’s not sure if she’s got her dream yet
She’s not sure… she dreams anymore.
She wonders if this is normal,
Neighbors laughing cross the street on the porch swing
Window-dressing, casual or formal?
She loves her house, but both her stories…she feels like torching.
(Instrumental)
First story’s full of smiles and sunshine
Neighbors jealous of that curb appeal
Another plot unfolds behind the shutters
She got her two-story facade,
But her loneliness is real…
She always wanted a house with two stories
Was just a matter of time
Between her and the guy that she married
The American dream’s what they would find
