I wrote this for the girl from who taught me how and why the diminished seventh chord exists
I fell in love and then you left
But even now you are the best
Powerful and insecure
In your passing overture
Somehow elated and depressed
A life cut different than the rest
All the sins that you confessed
Desperate pain you professed
Uncompromising loyalty
Tempered by uncertainty
Your anguish perfectly expressed
A life cut different than the rest
Circus trappings so grotesque
Sideshow addiction and arrest
Always aimed to give your all
Never muted by withdrawal
How could you ever bear the test
A life cut different than the rest

Very nice groove to this tune. I love the idea of "a life cut different than the rest." Funny how certain people's foibles can make them even more dear to us. I like how you've captured that feeling in the words and the mood of the song.

Smooth lead guitar here. Favorite line: "Somehow elated and depressed"
