Feb 2022 folk girl-with-guitar
Started this one some time ago, FAWM has helped me fin(ish) it.
Smell of smoke
Water runs cold
There's a fire tonight
Built this home on what we thought was stone
feel the crumble around
Faded Pictures,
Broken photographs,
Age old, memories of the love long pass.
Here's to the time, paints over the cracks
Broken and silent this far down the tracks.
Here's to the nights spent so alone
How we've grown in this old home
How we've grown in this old home
Set inside your boundary lines,
All that once was divine
Dust and stone our love is now known
All our worst fears combine
Can you hear me?
Are you listening?
Just a memory of what we thought would last

Love the lyrics on this Carly. Could do with a bouzouki part!

awesome, love the way you pull out the bass or route notes on the guitar in the verses. Got a lovely feel, lyrics are great and that chorus melody

Yay, another Carly song. Another great one. I like the house metaphor for a crumbling relationship. Sung beautifully as always.
