This was a collab. (It originally started off as an instrumental I came up with). I wrote the music, and Chris came up with the lyrics.
Originally I just updated the "Untitled Song" page with this demo, but I decided to start afresh and add a new song so comments would make sense (and this is a more recent contribution).
Chris Smith - lead vocals
Edward Roussac - electric guitar, bass guitar, drum programming, backing vocals
From Chris:
This FAWM has allowed me to work in so many different genres; and Edward's track brought this awesome energy that recalled the best aspects of 90's alt rock with his own twist. I love how this turned out.
You never know just what you’ll find
When you go swimming in your mind
You never know just what you’ll see
But babe I know you won’t find me
I cannot say that I feel the same either way
I gave it all for love
Won’t ever be enough
I gave it all for love
Never were you thinking of me
I gave it all for love
Will you think about me in another life?
A glutton of a thousand dreams
Without a spark to guide them
They never fill my basic need
I wanna be beside you
You’ll never heed a word I say
But I keep talkin anyway
A therapy of endless screams
But only one voice singin
I gave it all for love
Won’t ever be enough
I gave it all for love
Never were you thinking of me
I gave it all for love
Will you think about me in another life?
Oh there’s been somethin on my mind:
Am I something on your mind?
There’s been something on my…
I’ll never be the one to say
Will you remember me always
A coded message in reverse
Or maybe sung aloud in verse
You never know just what you’ll find
When you go swimming in your mind
I hope you hear my silly songs
Cuz only one voice singin:
I gave it all for love
Won’t ever be enough
I gave it all for love
Never were you thinkin of me
I gave it all for love
Will you think about me in another life?

Really enjoy the vocal melody on this, and the fat fat bass tone, and the rhythm in the chorus. Also really like the progression in the verse, this is well put together. Fav lines were there's been something on my mind/am I something on your mind

Great collab and digging that 90s alternative rock feel to the arrangement and vocal. Catchy lines in the chorus stuck in my head.

I started listening to the instrumental (and I was liking it!), and then saw that there's now a version with vocals.
First, the guitar, bass, and drums are groovy together, and that's a cool chord progression. And the vocals - wow! The song has elements of metal, soul, and it's an excellent collab.

So cool, loving the bounce on that bass and the descending lines that jump up in the chorus, and the "group" vocals to underline and vitalize. Lovely collab. Great listen. :)
Thanks both of you for your kindness.

Cool and laid back. More 70s Zep feel for me. Maybe a touch of Stones, or pink Floyd. Great stuff. #tit4tat

I agree with the consensus, definitely a 90's feel. Good vocal performance, phrasing is great. Nice work! Love that little bass slide at the very end.

Love the verse melody, very slinky and leads well into the chorus. I like that the guitars are pretty clean, tone wise and the dirt comes from the bass - makes it sound very interesting. 'A glutton of a thousand dreams' is my favourite line, sounds grat and I think pondering it!

Brings me back to the early 90s. Pearl Jam? Soundgarden before they found their fuzz guitars?! I love the vibe of this song. Bit of laid back coolness. Cool drum groove and these twists and stops make it come alive. Chris created a great vocal melody and his voice is so versatile. All in all a very cool track and collab!
Some words on mixing if you mind... I love that raw oldschool approach, but if you find some time, I'd turn down the volume of the bass and pump up the vocals. That's all!

Great groove, almost pearl jam meets led Zeppelin! Vocals are spot on, and I love the melodic switch up for 'would you think about me in another life'

Love that descending riff. This has a cool, laid-back feel, reminds me of the 90s. This song has all sorts of weird twists and turns in the chord progression and I dig it. "A therapy of endless screams" is my favorite line.
