All the kids lined up for school;
summer suddenly so distant.
They're still working on the Golden Rule,
but their parents were always pleasant.
I tried not to give a damn;
it was hard to say hello;
they could barely pronounce my name;
so I disappeared into the back row,
And I got stoned.
Then one day there was some hope;
her red hair burst through like autumn.
We thought everything was a joke;
we cut class and all the corners.
She had a green Volkswagen Bug,
but she didn't have a license;
I said I'd die for her, and she just shrugged;
she lit a joint and then she passed it.
And we got stoned.

Beautiful singing. I like the simplicity of the arrangement. The "'Oooh"s are so dreamy. Really nice!

what a great slice of life, and the production is nicely sympathetic, with the background vocals coming in on the title phrase. some great lines in the lyrics too- slightly reminds me of Paul Simon? nice work!
