Based on the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.
Going a bit heavier with this one.
It's a pleasure to burn!
Monday's here, it's time to work
As every day she fades away
Her friends live in her wall, inside the tube, it's all she knows
Paper tiger, burning bright
In the orange glow of night
A cleansing touch, to ash and dust
In case you light a fire in us!
Monday's here, it's time to go
Could this small thing be worth a life?
Fatal contraband, and nobody's the wiser
I start to read
I'll tell you how it was, my friend
Such evil means to noble ends
This word offends thee, cut it out
Too dangerous to write about
But soon you'll find we can't control
This monstrous flame we've started
If one of us were to betray
He's given grace, a single day
24 hours, my friend, 24 hours
Unpatriotic! Enemy philosophy
Threatening, these words may not be said
Controversy! These thoughts may not be thought
How prettily our liberty is burning!
We are the firemen
We keep you safe, consume and play
War is coming, it'll all be over soon
Monday's here, it's time to pay
She had no choice but to betray
I tried to reignite the spark but they were too far gone
Now my life is burning bright
In the darkness of the night
Warm companions standing by
Monday's here, it's time to die!
You can't stay here my friend
Your former life is at an end
The Hound is hunting
Seek the outcasts, seek the drifters
Seek the men with books in their heads
We are the library
We keep the ashes of our world
The war is over before it began
Monday's here, it's time to build

There's some very cool lines in the lyrics. I dig it how this is at the same time groovy and hypnotic. I think that drumbeat creates that sort of atmosphere. Really liking the bridge riff that starts at around 2:58 with its stop-and-go feeling.

That book is one of my favorite sci-fi choices...... Nice bit of metal to go with my morning coffee! Nice work!

Yesterday I came across a Tweet on Twitter listing some dystopian books, to wit, 451, 1984, The Handmaid's Tale, and It Can't Happen Here--and I realized I had read all of them in high school (except Handmaid's Tale, which I read in 1985 when it came out). I guess I like dystopian fiction. And dystopian metal!!!!! Great job!
