The last time I got on a plane to go somewhere warm was January of 2020, with a trip to Key West. Since Covid, we've been staying pretty close to home (except for a few fun road trips last summer to Door County and Lake Superior), traveling vicariously with Rick Steves, and a wonderful series on the Smithsonian Channel (on Paramount+) called Aerial America. So, I have found that, even if I can't travel freely to all those exciting places I'd like to go just quite yet, I can take a soothing trip anytime, anywhere, inside my head (and with a lovely glass of wine!).
Palm trees, sandy beaches
Bring the comfort that I need
Sunshine, warm breezes
Take the winter out of me
CHORUS
Close my eyes, let the world go by
Leave it far behind
My, my, let the world go by
Vacation in my mind
No plane, no unpacking
No sand, no warm breeze
Whatever travel I may be lacking
I can still have my Pinot Gris
CHORUS
Close my eyes, let the world go by
Leave it far behind
My, my, let the world go by
Vacation in my mind

Such nice, friendly laid back feel. The instrumentation works very well and you have a very pleasing vocal delivery. This song took me away on vacation in my mind to wonderful place.

Playing nightly in the hotel lounge, don't forget to drop a few singles in the glass on the piano. So smooth it sent me drifting on a breeze. You make this sound so easy. Are those keyboard marimbas? Now I have to pop out, the shuttle leaves for the shops in 10... in my mind.

Love the laid back beach vacation feel to this with the marimba and island rhythms and your images! Even if we haven’t been able to travel songs like this transport me to magical relaxing places. Love your harmonies. Lovely!

This is so delightfully relaxing. Some fine lines: "Take the winter out of me" is totally relatable, right about this time of year! The harmonies are pretty and the music/melody a gentle trip to another place & time! Nicely done!

There is such a nice mellow vibe to this. I think this song will strike a chord with many of us whose travel itineraries have been rather limited in recent times. I really enjoyed the softness of the arrangement and in the vocals. Lovely!

Love the concept, and the song really does take me to a place with warm breezes. I like the "no plane, no unpacking" verse to expose the reality of the images you'd set us up with.
