This started as a little piano riff which i wanted to turn into a sort of meditative floaty song based around that simple riff, then a couple of other sections landed on me so in they went.
lyrics wise i wanted to reflect a bit of the dark and light of the inner self in so many people, and wanted to try to give a picture of understanding which can hopefully be recognised by people. I know i have been through, as im' sure many have, plenty of my own inner battles. And with each one i feel there is immense learning and understanding which can be taken as a real positive going forward.
So enjoy
When the wind is so high
the sea shining bright
sail away on the breeze
till morning light
THe whispering clouds
drift gently to paint
a wholesome portrait of earth
we all can take
Hidden wawy, despair grows
suffering streets, dark hedgerows
distorted skies, misaligned we know
hear the cries , eternal black holes
no one knows each battle in the mind
See the smiles protecting all inside
so reach out when all becomes a fight
and you'll watch
the broken times
pass by
Let it all fall apart
at the start
time and time again
each trip is learning
without yearning
to be as another
just a wandering soul
So reach out
So to the kids, encourage not critisize
fill their wings with hope so they can fly
let them sing their element in life
and then you'll find
a society shared
in kind

let me just say that I love all of the photos that you have put with your songs. This is great how you built the song around that line--it is a great line, but now you have a great song created around it. The music really fits the message in this, as it is about growth, encouragement, improvement, hope....the music reflects that perfectly. Well done.

I can see how you were taken with this circular piano progression. It's great! You crafted an earworm of a melody around it too. The home I keep wanting to return in this song musically for me is the bit from "Hidden away ... black holes." I find myself wanting more of that progression with the full drum accompaniment but that's the last time we really get it in its full glory. I wonder if you were to shorten the opening after "morning light". And after "the broken times pass by" you could do another pass at a section similar to "hidden away" before going into the "let all fall apart" section. Just a thought because for me I find myself wanting to get back there and never quite making the return trip. That said, the chorus is great and takes it to an emotional high with all that chorus and delay. Great message to this too. Love your work, man!

You’ve done it again, Karl ~ you’ve created another “new favorite” Karl song for me. I love the cascading piano riff and accompanying chord progression. That high sustained note on “Let it all fall apart” is so piercingly beautiful. And the whole arrangement is so lush and just vibrates with love and compassion. Hot damn, this is good!
P.S. That picture is from Alex’s birthday, isn’t it? One of the last times we were all together, before the world went all sideways...

What a lovely sound - I was already going to describe it as floaty, and then I saw in your liner notes that's how you described it!
A wonderful, soaring song, uplifting in a hard-earned wisdom kind of way. Wow!

I love the main keyboard riff. Very catchy. It's got a 90s Brit pop vibe. I hear Coldplay. I like how it slowly builds and finally at the end you put the snares on 2 and 4. It gives a dramatic ending.

What a wonderful dreamy, slightly psychedelic piece. I liked the parts that repeated itself in this vast space of reverb/delay. So very calming and soothing. I drifted away to the lyrics which are just so ... hopeful. I miss hope.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful song!

Love those chord changes at the end of the chorus, and that piano hook is delightful.
"THe whispering clouds
drift gently to paint
a wholesome portrait of earth
we all can take"
- Love it!
Strong song crafting and presentation. Beautiful work, mate :)

*throws hands up in despair* I just don’t know what to say anymore Karl! Everything you write is gooold! Shiny gold! It’s just dreamy from start to finish <3

Yeah, that piano riff is super lovely. As is the anthemic chorus and the entire production. Sounds super good.

You had me at that opening piano/synth (?) combo - it's such a lovely opening and the vocal with panning echos is mesmerising. I kinda wanted you to write "ch:" in the lyrics, so I could work out which bit the chorus was - almost any part of it could be, it's all so melodic and 'hooky'. There's just so good much tune in it, it almost bends my brain. I also love how your liner notes often begin with 'I started with this tiny riff/piano part' and the result is almost always just this huge melodic joy. Consistently excellent stuff.

Love those vocals with echoey vibe. Works well with the lyrics. Nicely done!

Great riff, and that's a beautiful chorus (chorus? - at 1:30)
Love how the song develops, breaks down, and comes back with the chorus again, half-time this time around, so uplifting!
All those layered voices sound so good man.

love the way your vocals spin within the psychedelic swirl.
