Feb 2022 folk fuc acoustic-one-take guy-with-ukulele
In my brain I heard jangly guitar pop with a chorusy lead guitar solo introducing the melodic theme, a la the Cure's Friday I'm in Love. What came out was a lovely little acoustic uke rendition.
I think what I like about the song is the odd and uneven intervals between phrases and chord changes.

F G C
C C
We used to hang out all the time together
G
To catch a flick on rainy nights
Am F G
Or down at the lake in sunny weather.
C
Sam would pick us all up
G
In her Mom’s minivan
Am F G
5 of us in seat bels 4 in the back
F G
Didn’t care where we were going
Am
Or when we’d return
F
All summers end,
G C
But we were yet to learn
Those high school summers we roamed together
young hounds in a pack
Midnight climbing on the bridge Bemeath the railway tracks
On the grass at city hall together
We’d stare at the lights
Turn the whole world purple Talking through the night
We don’t hang-out much these days together.
Half the pack has moved away
Went off to college, Decided that they’d stay
Now and then Sam calls us all together
Says we’ll meet one summer night
Lie on the city hall grass- Reminiscing till dawns first light.

Just the right chord progression for nostalgia like this - the A minor in particular really gets to me.
I feel this song very deeply - in that kind of mood, I guess. And yes, I can imagine a jangly pop version, but yours here is personal and moving.

"Turn the whole world purple talking through the night" that's a great way of putting it! In my 20's I thought of that time as "figuring everything out" :D
I like the unevenness of this too like you mentioned, especially "now-and-then-Sam-calls-us all..." it has a cool sound like slipping into a different time signature for just a moment.

On a cold winter day a song like this about warmer weather and fun times is welcome. It’s a fun song and I love how it’s about days gone past and just being in the moment with your friends.

Sounds like a really good time was had by all. Your song is so full of happy memories, but somehow the nostalgia seems to bring a sense of sadness. Missing those good times and friends.

Endless summers. I don't remember when they did end for me...university probably...the lyrics resonate and although there was no uke in my youth, this is so back-then for me. The uke is cute indeed. Must be the night for ukes. Applause! Downloading this!
