Feb 2022 resonator blues alt-rock odd-time-signature 7 4
I love my resonator guitar in open D tuning. This would probably be better with a full band but I kept it stripped back. I didn't even add backing vocals which is super rare for me. I will though, at a later stage. I feel the lyrics and bridge need developing but I love the riff and the build from verse to chorus. Definitely a keeper.
The sun is going down
And I'm looking up
Searching for a sign
But I got no luck
The stars shine brighter than before
But it's not enough, I need something more
Hey universe!
You better listen up
I need to be heard
Yeah! Can't you see?
I've made it, I've survived
I'm here and I'm alive
Earth keeps spinning round
But I stand my ground
I sink into the soil
Soak up every sound
I can feel a shift in the atmosphere
My time is now, everything is clear
Hey universe!
You better listen up
I need to be heard
Yeah! Can't you see?
I've made it, I've survived
I'm here and I'm alive
I am a force of nature
I can shape this world
A god, a creator
I can make my own

Oh man, I love the tone you got out of that guitar. This has a led zep feel to it. Great tune.

love the melody on the verses. really suits your vocal style.

Yay odd time signature! Really enjoyed this. I actually think it works better without a full band.

Sounds awesome! Nice melody and the 7/4 works great. The guitar sounds amazing. You really set up the chorus nicely in the verse, makes the riff sound extra tasty!

I love the sound of the resonator guitar especially when you use the slide. The vocal vibrato on "can you SEE" suits the resonator guitar/slide sound on the choruses so perfectly. Lean into that. The vocal fx work really well . . . not too much reverb and just the right amount of delay. I like the sentiment of just telling the Universe what's up . . . Jimi shines through lyrically as well! I would be interested to hear how this sounds if you keep developing it further.

Guitar sounds amazing! The song definitely works in a stripped-back form, but can also see the potential in a full band version. Lyrically a really cool message of positivity. I liked this a lot!

I love how the melody begins on such a high note. Your clear voice and the gritty guitars give this song depth. It has an amazing "turning point" feeling, like an enthem I'd expect near the end of a kind of antihero-to-hero-movie. Especially loved the bridge!

That riff is awesome! It's so bad-ass! The "I am a force of nature" section matches really well in energy with it. Let me know when you do the full band version, that will rock!
