Guitar, lyrics, lead vocals, mixing - Jorge (@jorgevallentine)
Piano, Strings, Harmonies - Tassja (@pianoonthepatio)
After listening to Tassja's stuff earlier this month I was super excited we were gonna work on something together! Even though we did this relatively quickly and are planning to come back to it and do more cleaned up versions of different things, I think this really has the vibe I was going for and it was really great to have a new friend add their flair to my base song here. :)
I’ve been thinking of death
And the start
And the end
And how I’d rather be broke
Than to wind up a pet
I've been thinking of death
And the start
And the end
And how I’d rather be lonely
Than to ever feel caged
I've been thinking of life
And what I want out of mine
And how I'd rather fess up
Than keep wasting my time
I've been thinking of God
And about how I define love
I wanna lead with my heart
My brain's been kingpin long enough
I've been seeing your face
A ghost I often retrace
The perfect slope of your jaw
Your body covered in lace
You always seem to break free
And come lookin' for me
Well, if you catch me tonight / If I catch you tonight
In the cold winter light / In the cold winter light
Yeah, if you catch me tonight / Yeah if I catch you tonight
In the cold winter light / In the cold winter light
Oh, if you catch me tonight / Oh, if I catch you tonight
I might, I might, I might
Die happy

Quite the drive here on this. The guitar moves it along over @pianoonthepatio's smooth strings. Love the vocals. Nice job.

All that echo gives this an ethereal tone I quite like. Great indie folk chord progression, piano, and vocals (from both of you!). And I love that "I wanna lead with my heart/my brain's been kingpin long enough" line.

I love the guitar on this song, and the sort of like… howling and how you back them with cinematic sounding instruments. Very contemplative lyrics, and enjoyed the sudden dramatic increases in volume/intensity. I feel like a lot of your songs would be awesome on the soundtracks of the kinds of movies I love. Like eternal sunshine or something like that. I also loved the higher vocals, maybe a girl or falsetto? Either way, so dynamic and lovely…

ah, you're right about us going for the punchier piano instead of the soft, reverb-ed one! Noting that for later when we work on it again. Got excited from the beginning when Jorge sent me what with the first voice memo. This was a fun collab!

I like the melodies and the "oohs". Nice arrangement. Lots of good stuff here to work on later.
