Feb 2022 rock loud live-instruments keep-it-simple no-excuses needs-vocals
ZeCoop: I wrote this song early in FAWM and it was so much fun to play. My Agile Les Paul, Danelectro DC59 and my Hudonsics T'Watt (the 2 watt amp @dragondreams built for me) It was loud, it was fast and I was really excited about it. But... when I went to record drums, I realized that the weird stop/start part I wrote was something I could get right. That's ok, I had a bass idea in mind and sent it to Rob for drums. He rocked those out, but when I went to record bass, nothing was working for me. It was one of those FAWM days where you just get nowhere, so I sent it back to Rob for bass, which turned out awesome. Now that I am here, we decided to have him add a THIRD loud guitar and the song is done. It fully realized the powerhouse punch I had imagined when I played the first two guitar parts! SO much fun... :)
guatecoop: We work and play (musically) differently, but it just WORKS when we do things together. I had recorded a scratch guitar part after I had done drums and bass, but I just wasn't sold on the guitar part. The drums were intentionally like drum parts on Sugar and Bob Mould recordings (we both adore him), so lots of snare and few toms on the drums. The bass was very fun and I love using the bass to differentiate parts and segments. The bass is definitely the most underrated instrument in rock music--just look at Interpol or Fugazi for bass players....Anyway, then it came to the guitar part and I had some ideas on the scratch track that I actually used in this, but the real gem happened when I was just playing the bass part on the guitar when listening to the song--deciding what to play...Both of use realized that just playing the bass part on guitar for the chorus part was the way to go, so that's that. I will never shy away from a good rock song and this one definitely is that. I was grateful and fortunate that John asked me to do some things one this one....great song and very big sound. Please let us know about the mix and sounds, as I am trying to really put my new studio through its paces and see what it is good at and what it is not good at.
I must say, it is so great having my brother here again to do a multi-day FAWM session. We always have a great time and write songs that we are both proud of. We hope that you like them, too.
Not yet...

Oooooh yeah! I don't usually drop names in a comment but I gotta say this sounds like a great lost Cheap Trick jam of Rick Nielsen, Tom Petersson, and Bun E. Carlos while they were waiting for Robin Zander to show up. Plus I loved all of the false endings!

I sooooo love a well-place pause in a song. So very much!!! And oh my f*** yes. That bass part played on guitar is awesome! Caught my ear instantly. Brilliant.
As far as the mix goes, I would like a touch more bass, but that could just be a personal preference as I am a bass junkie. "I left my heart in a bass guitar." There's a lyric for ya for this. :)
@unkept Feb 2022
Oops, duplicate comment. Again great song. :)
@unkept Feb 2022
I absolutely love the bass in this, and the guitars really scream an energy, great changes, fantastic collab again. Also enjoy your song notes immensely. Nice!

Oh hell yes this rocks. Killer collaboration
@elesimo Feb 2022
This is solid, love the song, the energy, and that you're doing it together.
@vomvorton Feb 2022
Hell yeah, this really rocks - I can hear the Bob Mould influence, it sounds like Husker Du without the crappy production ;) the stoppy starty bit is really fun and the guitar tones are great.
@ambroise Feb 2022
Ça envoie de la purée ! Nice raw energy ! Can't wait for the lyrics.
@keithcuts Feb 2022
Super crunchy and hard hitting from the get go , fiyaa!
The song structure lends itself to being a hit.
A wild ride this track was/ is!
@scottlake Feb 2022
So about those vocals…… what if this was like a zecoop drums song and you let all of the non brothers have a go?
@thedutchwidows Feb 2022
Great energy - all the parts work super well. Excellent!
@srcoops Feb 2022

Oh YEEEES guys. What a joy to wake up to a brother rocker and it has a real in the stadium live feel to it. I can totally tell there was so much fun to be had with this. I bet the joy of working with your bro is something pretty magical as well. There is so much energy in this it is insane and those drums give everything such a punch. My fav bit in all of it is defo the bass. wooohoo

This rocks. It's giving me Pearl Jam, Soundgarden energy. Who is doing vocals on this?
