Feb 2022 fawmtronica old-folkie-with-sampler maschine experimental
What to say about this one. The kit and pattern I chose sounded vaguely latin so I didn't overthink, just made a few related drum patterns that sounded good together. Then chose bass and leads to contrast. The Bass and Leads are from the NI Kinetic treats sample pack.
It sounded vaguely like a midway and a train so I called it Circus Train. I'm trying to just let the loops and sounds lead me wherever they want to go with these looping experiments.
I'm primarily an acoustic folkie but I've been monkeying with a Native instruments Maschine Controller for about 4 months. I have been using Melodics to help me learn basic finger drumming skills (and assist me with trying to understand that thing that drummers do). I am just now at the stage where I can load samples, craft loops and assemble them into something resembling a song. I am going to try do a sample based something every day this FAWM. They are not polished productions but my path to adding these modern tools to my box of crayons. If anyone wishes to expand on these sketches, add lyrics, etc.., drop me a line and I can hook you up with Maschine files (and maybe midi if I learn how to export those).
Nope-- if you hear some let me know and we can collab.

Seconding Robyn's comment. It's like James Bond if, instead of tracking down a megavillain's launch codes, he was mashed up with Indiana Jones and searching for spells to counter ancient shenanigans.

Enjoyed that! Seemed to suit the packed jubilee line train I’m on! People all encapsulated in their morning routines, mostly looking half asleep and glued to their phones…. Nice soundtrack, cheers!

I feel like I've stumbled upon an ancient and secret ritual and am watching from the shadows. Mysterious and cinematic!

There is a mysterious midway feel, very hypnotic. I like how it gained in intensity, like picking up speed. Fun and weird.
