This is a song I would never have written without the FAWM week 3 challenge on Polysemy. Which I had to look up, although "many meanings" would have been a good guess if it wasn't all Greek to me. There might be some political comment in here, too. "Get" is the first polysemantic that came to mind, but the song is loaded with a few more. Yes, you get to count and comment!
GET

(FAWM Challenge week 3: Polysemy)
V1:
I’m banking that you’ll take a pass
At wading through the elder grass
Along the river where you might get wet
When you said bank, I guess you meant
That place where money's saved and spent
What you procure, is what you get
V2:
Man that post, chuck that bit
Does stretching the truth make it fit?
Watch out as players tighten up the net
You might get fat, you might get thin
You might find a way you can win
What you become, is what you get
Chorus:
Words can mean more than one thing
Like shade and shed and ball and ring
Do you castle to protect your king
Or will it be check-mate?
Instrumental verse & chorus
V3:
Have another shot have another drink
Sit on a rock pretend to think
Got a new guitar so now I’m gonna fret
The tender offer is tabled now
The Wall Street crowd will have a cow
What you understand, is what you get.
Chorus 2:
One word can have many signs
Why does Bitcoin come from mines?
My mouse creates the best designs
Pass me a piece, lend me a hand
Don't let this well run dry - I think you get it!
Outro:
Am I looking at a row of switches or turning the airplane?
I’m going to the store, ‘cause I must procure, you know GET things!
I practice each day – to GET better!
Now I understand -Yeah, I GET IT!
Yeah, I GET IT! Yeah, I GET IT!

That bass is poppin', and so are the rhythms of the words, and that's even before I get to the meanings. Intelligent and clever lyrics. I particularly like "does stretching the truth make it fit?"

This is super funky - love the groovy e-piano and the brass part, and the way you put the lyrics over the instrumental fits the vibe really well. I dig this!
