Demo to come...
Last week I drove my daughter-in-law, her daughter and my new granddaughter to their new home in Nottingham.
The instrumental is meant to be an arpeggio that represents the falling rain as we drove along.
Leaving Glasgow in a howling gale
Like we're being blown away
Wipers barely clear away the rain
On a February day
A baby is dreaming her baby dreams
While her sister holds her hand
Her mum is sitting up front with me
Driving to a foreign land
And the baby on board she is sleeping
Tucked up safe and warm
Her mother, her sister, and then there's me
We are giving her shelter from the storm
In a roadside cafe where we grab some lunch
The baby practices baby smiles
And the grey of the day just lifts away
And the sun shines down for miles
And the baby in back she is sleeping
Tucked up safe and warm
Her mother, her sister, and then there's me
We are giving her shelter from the storm
(Instrumental)
And when we reach the other end
After many a rainy mile
Daddy's waiting for his family
And to see his baby smile
Now the baby in bed she sleeps soundly
Tucked up safe and warm
Her mother, her sister, and my son, her Dad
Will be giving her shelter from the storm

Hi, Paul. First off, let me apologize for taking so long to return the favor of your very kind comment on a song of mine from a few weeks ago. Secondly, this is beautiful. It put such a smile on my face. The use of 'baby' as an adjective ("baby dreams", "baby smiles") is just adorable, and damn if it didn't make me vicariously feel your sense of protectiveness. Well done, sir.

The future and parenthood is definitely a foreign land.
