Feb 2022 boatnames folky ballad lyrics-only melancholy needs-music
Got the idea from one of the boat name titles, but took it in a different direction. Feel free to put it to music and sing it. I’m curious what could come of it.
Woodland creatures all bow down to Autumn’s Lady Heather
She’s spreading this year’s harvest as she goes
Woodland creatures all settle down, dens all warmed with comfort
Feel the nip of winter in your toes
In the crisp autumn breeze, walks the golden Fairy Queen
Her hair is soft with shades of harvest grain
Untold wisdom in her eyes, plagued of battles not yet seen
She paints the autumn colors once again
Woodland creatures all bow down to Autumn’s Lady Heather
She’s spreading this year’s harvest as she goes
Woodland creatures all settle down, dens all warmed with comfort
Feel the nip of winter in your toes
Her voice is like the talking trees, breath is that of rustling leaves
She’s clothed in earthy tones of orange and red
Leaves are crunching under foot, reminds the creatures t’all stay put
She’s hoping that her friends are all well fed
Woodland creatures all bow down to Autumn’s Lady Heather
She’s spreading this year’s harvest as she goes
Woodland creatures all settle down, dens all warmed with comfort
Feel the nip of winter in your toes

This is great. So familiar and fun right off. Your singing is just great and it sits right on top of this great sounding guitar. This is such a throwback, but your own. I couldn't even tell you who it sounds like, but more of an era or something. Very well done and a great collaboration!

Well, shucks, that's very friendly and folky in the sittin' around listenin' to LPs on a woven rug with friends having a rap session (I'd say I'm dating myself, but that predates even me, so it's wistful, like this song.) I would have guessed maybe something more ethereal than this Crosby-esque tune just scanning the lyrics, but I really like this take on it. Delightful pictures and so tactile and organic, I can smell the moist, dusty leaves and bark and moss. Every time you sing "woodland creatures" I involuntarily smile. Lovely.

What a wonderful and descriptive write, such a beautiful take on this boat name. Love that you have music for it, some nice singing and folky music, this is a great collab and Thank you both for doing the Boat Names Challenge!

What a great chorus. I love the doubled vox. Reminds me of some of the cool old timey music my father played when I was but a child. But this has a cool distorted, modern taste to it. I'm digging this a lot.
