Le me, finding these un-musiqued lyrics:
"Monkeys?! SHAKESPEARE!? DONE!!"
I had my mojo workin today and threw together a straight-ahead bluegrass jam with lyrics by the
ever-clever @NancyCunning
Monkeys Typing Shakespeare
You might think you can't sing
I bet you can hum
Pick up that old guitar
Have yourself a strum
No one's born a'knowing
Even you can win
Like the monkeys that type Shakespeare
and the angels that count pins
They never knew they couldn't
Just went right on and tried
If folks claim they can't exist
Them folks musta lied
The world is full of wonder
Where will we jummp in?
Are we monkeys typing Shakespeare
Or angels counting pins
Some monkeys take up dancing
Some angels take shorthand
You don't have to be good
You can join our band
What we gonna call ourselves
How 'bout this old friend
We'll be the monkeys typing Shakespeare
and the angels counting pins

Bluegrass was the perfect direction IMO to take this wonderful lyric! Great performance, very well done!
hah!!! .........take it me! I think I'm gonna steal that one :D
@berni1954 Mar 2022
This is such a fun, life affirming song. Sweet bluegrass guitar 6 banjo solos and I like the repeats in the verses. They work really well.
@sherrycanary Mar 2022
Excellent lyrics and some kick ass bluegrass .
Fun vocals
@richaaaay Mar 2022
I know monkeys and apes are different but I like them all…
@richaaaay Mar 2022
Hot diggity dogity…Or maybe chimpity chumpity…another monkey song. Some great playing. Awesome!
@angelinapowersuit Mar 2022
Man, do I love me a manly voice belting out a blue grass tune. Though as Nancy may be aware, I like my music close and my vocals closer, though I realize your voice may blow up the mic that way, haha. But it's so good I want you to be sitting right next to me :-)
Yep, Catchiest Song Title Award, FAWM '22 (ok I'm the only one voting)
Ooooh that guitar solo (or is that a banjo?) I'm in heaven!
I wonder though - "angels counting pins" - is this a similar saying to "when pigs fly?" what does it mean?
And BTW - Yes, I'd like to join (the band).
@janeg Feb 2022
Where do you find that much energy during FAWM? This is amazing. A band I would love to see live.
@oaksnprairie Feb 2022
@abudabard12514 Showoff! I love this.
@NancyCunning these lyrics are fantastic and really suit that one man band.
@bradbrubaker Feb 2022
Dang, you're playing that banjo like it owes you money. "Take it, me"....hilarious. The monkeys typing Shakespeare is always a great reference, but really with music no one has the secret, so that's kind of what we're all doing here.
@andygetch Feb 2022
Such a fun musification in bluegrass.
@liz561 Feb 2022
Wow-this is a whole band! Great sound! Nice lyrics from @nancycunning too- lots of fun. And there is humor in the disconnect between bluegrass and Shakespeare. The instrumental when you say "take it, me!" made me laugh out loud. Awesome job all around!
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
Love this great banjo and bluegrass - perfect uplifting music for this great lyric! Wonderful vocals as well. This is a wonderfully encouraging message! Love it!
@pvk2020 Feb 2022
Good jam.
@mhorning Feb 2022
This is incredibly uplifting.
@nancycunning Feb 2022
I love the whole band of Me's. Thank you for the collaborating.
@mikeskliar Feb 2022
This is wonderful- love that propulsive bluegrass playin' and of course the lyric is priceless- great work all around! 'take it, me'!
@mandolinda Feb 2022
Such an energetic song. Love the bluegrass, pickin and me grinnin’
@bigmood Feb 2022
oh SHIT! and that solo's burnin!
@bigmood Feb 2022
oh this is awesome!! incredible ..mandolin? banjo? it's nonstop, really nice work with the arrangement, and I love the vocals (and the concept of the song is really clever.) it all works together so perfectly
