This is probably the last track from us this FAWM (aside from a few collabs out there). But I wanted to end it with a teaser of a new project. A sequel to DJKA's last album "The Voyage of the Sea Hawk" (djkennetha.bandcamp.com and it comes with the story in captain's journal form!)
The Captain's Daughter Chapter 1 - The Journal:
My Mother used to tell me stories of my Father. What a wonderful and caring man he was.
With a love for the ocean and all of it's creatures. He was a sailor, a captain, and at heart,
an adventurer. He loved sailing the seas, and returning home to tell her stories of the people and places he saw. Then one day, he told her a tale of two treasures. The Oculi Maris and The Water Soul. Together they would form The Will of The Sea and allow the owner of both to control the waves.
He often wondered what good he could do for our growing family if he was able to obtain them.
This became an obsession for him. He would often talk and write about it. At times he would venture to the shore and speak with an old fortune teller known as "The Sea Witch". She was a harmless old woman, but due to her appearance the townspeople had named her such. She was fluent in many tales and legends that she would hear from sailors, and had many discussions with my father. I suppose this is where my father's obsession began.
One day like any other, he had gathered his crew, his ship, bid Mother farewell, and set off on a voyage…...Except this time he did not return.
The crew came into port with The Sea Hawk, and told Mother of my Father's madness. How he became obsessed with the treasures. They also spoke of monsters. Rahab, Karkinos and Charybdis. They all sounded very fearsome. For some reason unbeknownst to me Rahab stuck out the most....and then I discovered the truth as it washed ashore at my feet. My Father's journal.
It detailed his voyage, where he went, the creatures he encountered and his fate. His obsession got the better of him and my thoughts about Rahab were proven to be true. My Father, now a great monster that patrolled the seas.
On that day, I swore that I would find a way to break the curse and bring him home. He wanted nothing but a better life for his wife and unborn daughter, but his obsession drove him to a dark place. It was time I speak with the Sea Witch and learn what I could.

Hello @aeye Mr. McGaughey and my grade 3/4s again. I read them the journal as we listened to the track. The track and the journal ended simultaneously.
Student comments:
S: It was kind of scary and sounded sad.
B: It suited the journal really well. It reminded me of the movie of Pirates of the Carribean.
M: It reminded me of sailors in movies. It reminded me of a new movie called the King's daughter.
M: It reminded me of when I went to Snow Valley with my family there was music that was scary and sad.
G: It did sound very scary and it did suit the journal very well. That would be a great thing to tell at a campfire.
G: It made me think of drawing monsters. I like to draw monsters and stuff.
J: The music and the journal sounded really well together.
B: It reminded me of the Bermuda Triangle legends.

You're so ambitious in your FAWMing! Fascinating story, lovely and forlorn musical piece to go with it. Sweeping, like the sea, and I absolutely love the sparse and echoey piano call toward the end.
(I finally made use of your "banjo's ripe" comment from the banjo forum, too.)

Wow! What a back story! And the music is very wild haunted ocean waves. Good stuff.
