Feb 2022 girl-with-piano piano jazz singer-songwriter
No, I’m not dead nor did I give up, time was just sparse the last few days and this weekend as well so I did something with piano and vocals only today. Can tick that off my wishlist now. Maybe there will be more.
The lyrics are inspired by the storm that was raging over Germany today. I even recorded the howling winds, maybe I can use it in a song.
Oh Sweet buttercup in my hand
When I smell your lovely scent
Oh my ache is gone
Sunbeam yellow in winter blues
Will you help me to get through?
Oh till my ache is gone
And I’ll crack myself open
Like a bud in spring
And I’ll do it like the mighty trees
Beginning anew, letting everything in
Until the ache is gone
Keep me forever
In the light of yours
A change of weather
Is my greatest force

mmm the piano sequences make a great bed for that entrancing voice. I think the rest of the comments have said everything else, so I'll just download this and listen again!

Lovely graceful emotive compelling. The vocal could be singing mickey mouse is in a house with these intonations and sylings transfix the listener. But the lyrics are better than that by far. There's a longing and hope and the crack open like a bud in spring is perfect. In a bigger song that would be a chorus to die for. ;)
Well done, my friend. Again.

Just a great feel from the first chord and the voice just draws you in...captivating. I can hear those classical piano runs ...very refreshing to say the least. A WINNER. Das ist gut!

I like this a lot right from the start. Very smooth melody over the piano. You have created a very intimate setting for the listener, both with your very nice piano playing, but also with the quieter voice and lyrics. Very nice song!

Hauntingly beautiful song, it has some spooky feel and jazzy vibes. Very interesting to follow the story. Your voice and playing are very beautiful.

Some great imagery in the lyrics. The lines really pull at you. Love the piano and vocals. Full of emotion. Really good stuff!

Really haunting and moody. Certainly captures the feeling of the weather keeping you inside. Some pretty deep blue notes in that piano solo. Enhances the mood. Love your voice!

Ah, just lovely tinkling and some of those chord changes are haunting.
Smooth, silky, Goldfrapp-like vocals complete the equation delivering a poignant lyric compellingly. Beautifully done!

Lovely piano with some surprising melodic twists. Very fine!

this is fantastic, love the chord sequence and the way the melody pulls you into and away from those chords at the same time. quietly tense. bravo!!

What an evocative opening riff. The piano has a haunting quality too. Now I gotta go back and listen to it again, cuz I was zeroing in on the music the first go. Oooo the lyrics are also really evocative! What a lovely joining of those elements.

I appreciate the sparse arrangement here. It emphasizes the beauty of the lyrics. The rhythm is so wonderful jazzy, love the melody on top. It's a pleasure to listen to your voice. Reminds me a bit of Hooverphonic. Wish I could rock sparse arrangements the same way as you!

I'm not usually one who appreciates jazz, but this is a thing of beauty. It has a delightful swing to it, and your soft yet clear voice is incredible expressive.

A lovely progression with a really interesting rhythm really sets things up. The jazzy inflections on your vocal gives it a bit of Lana Del Rey feel, that sort of melancholy. Gorgeous vibrato in your voice too. Not sure what the scale/mode for that solo is, but it gives a real eeriness at times that's very cool.

This is really groovy, it does sound like a growing storm on that piano... add in that sultry vocal and its a great combination! Love this as it is, just 1v1 piano/vocal suits the mood nicely, but I also think this would be equally great in a trio with some bass/drums... but that's if/when for another day ;) fawm on!
@bigmood Feb 2022
oh man, this is nice. I can almost hear the rain on the windowpanes behind the song, I like how you balanced this stormy and uneven piano part with the imagery of springtime. so melancholy
