So today I was walking to pick up my daughter from the kindergarten and noticed my reflection in the window of the local cheese shop.
For a fleeting second I thought, what would be the first thing that a complete stranger would notice about me, think about me, what would they think my thoughts would be.
Then about 2,5 seconds later I realized they probably don't, as they are more likely to think about what other people think about them. Like me.
A silly idea for a song, so I wanted to do something silly. Kind of like "upper class twit of the year: the song".
as I was dillying, dallying, smashingly indubitably on a sunny street
I pondered and queried my wearied-oh head how other passerbys might perceive me
what simple qualities of this fine specimen of humble man would they contemplate
what manners of gentleman would they gander at as I passed them eloquently
would they see all the physical prowess my body so capable carries with it?
would they admire the agile and deerlike capacity how I move my body?
would my beloved vision of empathy feel like a warm glowing star
would the wisdom i’ve gathered over all these years shine out afar?
I asked random person: “oh dear good sir, I’d have an enquiry to you!
what is the first thing you noticed about me when I just walked right past you?”
He said “I’m sorry but I didn’t notice you as you walked right past me,
was so stuck in my own thoughts I simply ignored you, sorry, apologies”
Let this be a lesson to the bookshelves: some people simply think of themselves!

Oh, fantastic! This is so clever. The instrumentation perfectly suits the strutting vanity and pomposity of the character you portray, and you do portray him flawlessly. I love your overly-correct diction and the formality of the words chosen. Every line is so well-written! And the delicious unawareness of the final lament was only one of many moments that had me chuckling out loud. Great piece!

This is so delightfully bouncy and jaunty! I absolutely love the wonderful tongue in cheek lyric that is delivered so brilliantly!

Ah, how wonderfully playfully out there :)
Just love the instrumentation here and the vocal tone delivering such a charming, quirky lyric is delightful

wow, this is amazing. Love the subject matter, the approach, the execution- all first-rate!
Somewhere, Gilbert and Sullivan are smiling (and probably still arguing with each other). The musical backing is perfect for this ode to all our self-centerness...
