Thank you storm Eunice for cancelling school.
Thank you old guitar for delivering this song.
So I picked up my old guitar, the one I got from Uncle Ted and then I asked it for a song as branches fell upon the shed.
It is a Besson Aristone and at least fifty years old, I've written lots of songs on it and busked it by the road.
Last week the top E pinged off and I haven't had time to get some more. So I strummed it with 5 strings and it reminded me of Sarah.
Duffel coats and equal votes my English class and taking notes. The Labour club and tins for miners.
Angel wings Rico's trombone, Riverside and walking home, a beat up van we were so young, our lives had only just begun.
Hand in hand beside the lake, we stayed up very very late, we thought we'd never ever part, no concept of a broken heart.
The Besson's cracked and needs some glue, that's something Jimmy Cole can do. I'll get her some strings and give her a clean.
She kills fascists that machine.

Ah, Sarah Records! LOL, sorry I didn't get the reference. Musicians and their inside jokes ;)
(Until a moment ago, Sarah's Wikipedia page needed an edit. Someone called their 100th release their "centenary".)

What a great song. Love the nonchalant storytelling style of the lyrics. A lovely biography of the instrument.

"She kills fascists, that machine" <3 Guthrie
And reminds you of Sarah, also worthy, I am sure.
Nice warm tone, that Besson, and a nice song.

Fantastic lyrics! From the way you describe the guitar to the way it brings out this memories and little details it's all great (for some reason, "duffel coats and equal votes" flowed particularly well in my head).

Excellent! Stream-of-consciousness? I had to Google storm Eunice, so I guess that's a UK thing, but glad that all is well. We had a storm come thru New England last night, and the drummer in my band called me at 7 AM (he should REALLY know better) to check on my situation. Honestly, I slept thru the whole thing. Great story - slice of life - and well executed! And kudos for the Woody Guthrie reference.

Most important thing first - is the shed ok? Everything else still standing? Been quite blowy here.
Very nice song - I like the mix of the mundanity of the condition of the guitar with the more evocative images pulled from memory. "Duffel coats and equal votes" is a cracking little rhyme.
I think instruments have music in them, or at least the way they interact with our hands causes music to flow. I have a Strat that does that for me; I bought an acoustic guitar last year and it's the first acoustic I've owned that I like and a song comes out pretty much every time I pick it up. I bid (bidded?) on an old Jazzmaster at an auction a few years ago that had magic in it, but I couldn't keep up with the price and ducked out at about £800. I've regretted it ever since.

As you may know - I’m really into the idea that a song can simply be a story of what’s going on - ie daily life. Loving this story of yours. Brilliant !
