The original prompt for this was 'hiraeth' which put me in mind of an old half-song I've got kicking about called 'Never Go Home Again' but the attempt to resurrect that fell apart, so I took the additional lyrics I'd written and pulled a bass line together from some random chords (B & A) and then added some minimal piano.
Yes, strong LOTR lyrical influences but also speaking to personal feelings about moving on from things.
Watching the world fall away,
As go into the west,
Take your rest of the burdens,
Cause you can never go back,
That home has gone away for always.
Find a new hole that fits,
Find a new belonging,
It’s no betrayal to survive.
If you can never go home, again
You miss it so much it hurts,
As your finding out your feet
And stripping off the curses,
The old has left upon you
You carry it with you
You carry them with you
Wherever you may go.

Minimal piano is the best piano. I really like the melody you've given this one, it actually reminds me of early Depech Mode for some reason, and it's a really nice tone against that wonderful bassline.
Your lyrcs are great yet again. The "find a new hole that fits" verse is especially resonant.

Yes, really love the sound you've created here. I appreciate the references, of course, but apart from that it really fits with my goth / emo Chris appreciation society I'm forming here!

I like the indie pop-rock feel to this song a lot and also the LOTR references. Nice effect on the vocal as well.
