Feb 2022 duet across the world
Amanda and I have been threatening to do something for a while. We choose the trickiest time for us both! Amanda expecting a grand baby and me looking to move houses. None the less like a flash Amanda wrote a great first verse and chorus- I wrote a second verse and then did the music - tropical please she said! - back to Amanda for vocals and a bridge - back to me and i added my vocals a quick mix and et voila in very little time we have "No vacancy" We know we could sharpen this but we are pretty happy and time was our enemy !
adnama17: Boy howdy, yeah! Our vox could use some love, but we must FAWM on! FUN working with you John. We definitely need to do it again. :)
V1
Sandwiched between the Northern Lights
And the regal Southern Cross
I ran away to a tiny island
One room beach house, a pale new start
On a mustard-colored morning
Through the early morning mist
My voided eyes never saw you coming
You threw my life an abrupt twist
C
Didn’t want another human
Done getting hurt and misused
You walked right in
And sat right down
My heart table was upturned
Baring our chests to each other
We filled long abandoned rooms
No vacancy
No vacancy
All our bridges have been burned
V2
I knew I wanted something new
I wasn’t looking out for you
The beach helped to fill the void
The single room a tale it tells
As the light became the new day
And the mist gave way to sun
I saw you mirrored in the sea
A new web of life was spun
C
Didn’t want another human
Done getting hurt and misused
You walked right in
And sat right down
My heart table was upturned
Baring our chests to each other
We filled long abandoned rooms
No vacancy
No vacancy
All our bridges have been burned
B
Winking twilight
Peek-a-boo stars
Moon slowly rising
No need to hide my scars
C
Didn’t want another human
Done getting hurt and misused
You walked right in
And sat right down
My heart table was upturned
Baring our chests to each other
We filled long abandoned rooms
No vacancy
No vacancy
All our bridges have been burned

I love the feel of this song, you two work together quite nicely despite the chaos you are both in. That chorus is really catchy, very well done!

Fun island vibe. Lots of images throughout this and the main theme is felt. Nice collab.

Love the laid-back "island groove." So satisfying when it hits that "no vacancy, no vacancy." Good "escape" story, satisfied that occasional yearning to get away from it all.

Great instrumental track - so full and lush with strings and keys! Clever lyrics - "My heart table was upturned" - great imagery. Wonderful duet style performance that really suits the lyrical content. This was a smooth and enjoyable listen! Nice collab.

Oh this is really pleasant and feels like I need a Cuba Libre!! I love the back and forth with the vocals. Such a great duet! The music is really nice with those piano details! This is such a nice collaboration! Well done….now on to my drink!

Cool that you did a duet! Quite the accomplishment for you both at this time. Great descriptions of place in the lyrics. Nice!

I like the images I get in my head with those first verses. And I enjoyed the upbeat tone of the music. The duet is perfect for this story. And the bridge is delightful! Nicely put together!

I've listened to a number of @coolparadiso 's collaborations this year and they NEVER disappoint.
Very nice on the lyric collaboration, you guys! Great job as always on the music, John!

I was soooo glad to see this on the new songs list and was pleasantly surprised to hear and read of a true ping-pong duet. Such a inspirational collaboration!
