Feb 2022 jazzy uptempo love-song trumpet
Another silly short song, more than a bit tongue-in-cheek, and with a touch of objectification, but there’s heart behind the words (and a fun trumpet solo)!
My left hand damn-near fell off trying to record this though — I am a terrible jazz rhythm guitar player.
I quite enjoy the debonair
elegant sophistication of a black-tie affair
the starlight through the diamonds woven into your hair
and champagne in the glass
I’m rather fond of luxuries
A cuban cigarillo with an evening breeze
A plate of Parisian patisseries
that extra touch of class
But if you stripped that all away
Put me on a mountaintop and told me to stay
on a desert island or in Botany Bay
the only thing I’d want to bring is you
(Trumpet solo)
Strolling down the boulevard of Hollywoodland
Swimming or relaxing on the golden sand
No need to seize the day, just take it by the hand
A hand that’s holding yours
You could ply me with passionfruit
Tempt me with a tenderloin served en croute
Stuff me full of stuffing until I was mute
I would still be singing your name
And if you stripped that all away
Put me on a mountaintop and told me to stay
on a desert island or in Botany Bay
the only thing I’d want to bring is you

This is truly a gem! Great vocals, solid mix. And best of all, it's a love song without being mushy. I see Fred Astaire singing this Ginger Rogers as he leads her onto a 1930's dance floor with Johnny Green and his Orchestra in full big-band mode.

left hand pain notwithstanding, that's a good guitar backing! Cheers for the trumpet too. This is a bouncy light jazz bar offering and I'll have another gin and tonic, thanks, make that two!
