What to put here....
I've recorded a song, it turns out that the idea in my head has proved a little beyond my current capabilities when it comes to recording and playing it. So the easy thing to do would be to consign it to the 'will re-record later' pile and move on. But having listened back to it this morning, it does tell it's own unique story.
This is my first FAWM and it is still very early days of me learning to write songs, hone my recording process, understand what instruments to use etc. Everyone here has been through this process at some point or will go through it.
Therefore this recording shows that fragility and lack of confidence that I still have, but also makes me want to try harder because I want to improve. I want to be able to look back on this version and know I can play it better and maybe also choose better instrumentation. It is part of my story as a developing musician.
So enough excuses.....the simple chord progression came quite easy, the chords feature in 1000s of songs in one order or another, but I wanted the softness of a wind instrument (marked as a Xyloflute in my Roland) but also the harsh contrast of the guitar....forgive the howling wrong note near the end, turns out playing guitar on keyboard really isn't easy!
What is 'The Difficult Decision', well apart from what's mentioned above, there's also the dilemma of finessing a track until you're happy, or aiming for that magic 14 songs. I've only got a limited amount of time to spend, so the decision was push on towards 14, after all, the goal of 14 seemed impossible just a few short days ago.

Love this! Great work!!

I wouldn't be ashamed of this at all. This has a great basic melody, and the rest just fits very very well, despite there been multiple instruments. Those flutes really makes this a bit softer, and that almost sorrowful guitar feels straight in my heart.

All I can do is echo what m'learned friend has said. Your intent is plain to hear! And is wonderful. FAWM it and move on. The rest of the year is for development.
I'd like to add that I fully respect and appreciate your setting out your vulnerability, but went ahead and posted anyway. THAT, my dear Carl, is the spirit of FAWM. I think every single one of us experiences a lack of confidence when pushing our own respective envelopes.

The saying here is "FAWM it and move on"—meaning that if you've got something beaten into a good enough shape that someone listening will understand your intent, then you're good to go. Don't worry about it not being polished to a perfect sheen, just post it and move on to the next!
And I can hear what you're going for here. It's got a suitably epic feel to it, complete with most triumphant guitar and massed choirs. The drama of the piece matches the title very well, too. Nice one. Done! Push on!
