Feb 2022 garage rock cbg nonsense
The title had been in my list of song ideas for long enough I have absolutely no recollection of the context it came from, and only a reasonable certainty of which of my friends said it. I don't typically write such seemingly nonsense lyrics [Editor's note: Nothing seemingly about it, these lyrics are straight nonsense.], but it seemed to fit this one. The bridge came from a sign I saw somewhere on the internet.
The guitar here is my electric 3-string Arturo Fuente cigar box guitar.
Kiss me in the fast lane
Leave it on my desk
Kiss me in the fast lane, baby
The whole thing is a mess
Jeans are ripped, speech is slurred
Never forget
She’s a mean word
I’ve been waiting years for this
Let’s get the anchors aweigh
I’ve been waiting years for this but
Today is not the day
Play for all the marbles
No hedging your bet
Play for all the marbles, maybe
Nothing’s what you get
She’ll have you shaken not stirred
Pour it up
She’s mean word
No Chupacabra
No in and out privileges
No Chupacabra
No in and out privileges
No Chupacabra
No in and out privileges
No Chupacabra
No in and out privileges
And still the crowd is undeterred
Off with their heads
She’s a mean word
The maintenance has been deferred
Survey says
She’s a mean word

Love the driving bass right at the start! Also can't stop giggling at the bridge. I think I've watched too much Family Guy when all I can think of is Consuela saying "No Chupacabra".

Guitar sounds great - I really want one of those cigar box things.
This is a cool little song, you've captured that garage sound really well. Vocals have a touch of Talking Heads about it to my ears .

Yeah, great bass part.
Lyrics that make literal sense are overrated! This is a fun song.

The bass really catches my ear, very moving. I had to google chupacabra (tis the season to broaden one's vocabulary). Like the line about shaken not stirred, pour it up. Great structure and flow, great mix. FAWM on!
