Although I'm afraid it doesn't sound quite like Simon and Garfunkel, this is some music I put to @andrea 's wonderful lyrics. An upbeat song for an upbeat message.

Some people live in a fortress
To keep the enemy out
Behind their walls of empty halls
The silence of loneliness falls
Some people live for tomorrow
Always looking ahead
Dreams shaped yesterday crumble away
As the sands of time bury today
If I could change the world
I would make new rules
Where tears only fall from laughter
A heart can bleed but not break
And everyone gives
Just a little bit more than they take
Some people dwell in their heartache
Feelings they understand
Afraid to let go from sorrow they know
So they can move forward and grow
Some people live in the background
Safe behind the scenes
Their own point of light is lost out of sight
Behind stars that brighten in the night
If I could change the world
I would make new rules
Where tears only fall from laughter
And everyone gives
Just a little bit more than they take
If I could change the world
I would make new rules
Where love truly conquers all
And time can heal all wounds
Dreams always come true
And life doesn't end so soon
If I could change the world

Wow, this is supercharged! The opening stanza reminds me of one of my favorite lyric passages, from "Walls" by Tom Petty
All around your island
There's a barricade
Keeps out the danger
Holds in the pain
That you could write something that evokes that and doesn't feel like a cheap imitation is about as high a compliment as I can offer. :)
The music is energizing! It's all terrific, but I absolutely love the triplets in the chorus. It's an incredible way to shake up the flow a little and create extra energy. Each resolve just pushes the song higher and higher. And having the melody soar on the last line is just perfect.
The whole thing comes together so wonderfully, it feels like a religious experience! Superb work, both of you!

I love this collab! Positive, aspirational lyrics and inspiring music and vocal performance by @nedgreenough . More like this, please!

I read Andrea's lyrics and loved the words and the sentiment. My question was: "no one offered music???" Then I saw one of the comments so rushed to find the music. I absolutely love your song. It is positive, optimistic, catchy and inspiring. Absolutely brilliant collaboration. Very meaningful and universal. Your song should be on radio in every country.

Wonderful lyrics and that dancing piano riff in the song.
Love this line
'And everyone gives
Just a little bit more than they take'
Congrats on the collab

This is outstanding. I'd I could play piano like this I'd be happy. And I like distinctive tone of your voice. You did a good job turning @andrea lyrics into life. Good stuff from both of you!

Yeah, it does sound like Alan Parsons! Great work. Super vocals. Really wonderful production and awesome lyrics.

This is pretty epic sounding. It reminds me of the Alan Parsons Project a bit. Great singing and the mix is tremendous.
And, of course, great lyrics. No wonder you wanted to set it to music.
