Feb 2022 folk-rock fullband biab
I had this arrangement mostly realized last Friday but no words would come. Today I decided to tackle my imposter syndrome by writing about it. It worked. And it went in a much more optimistic direction than I thought.
I wouldn't mind another dozen passes on the fingerpicking parts on the guitars but it is time to FAWM and move on.

The groove and those first lyrics sure made me smile :D
"Don't become your own worst critic, let yourself be you" <3 <3

Some cool lyrics here and I am just amazed at the vocal melodies you create they are familiar-sounding and easy-going, but really inventive.
@sailingmagpie Mar 2022
Cool, retro vibe to this track. Definitely sounds like a classic 70s rock song. The ascending bassline in the verse chords is a nice idea.

"Never met a mole hill she couldn't mountain" I like this lyric a lot! I was thinking about mountains/mole hills for something I was working on this FAWM but I couldn't get it to happen. Glad to see it used so well (and originally) here. I like the laid back feel of this tune - yet its got a good pulse.
@williamjames Feb 2022
Very cool chord progression. Very reminiscent of Americana in my opinion. You manage to tell a very good and coherent story in this song, something not easy to do. Result; very cool track!
@markg Feb 2022
Loving the chord progression and the story.
Reminds me of a good Springsteen number.
The message is a powerful one and you present it well. From childhood to adulthood, and the facades with the insides.
@gordon Feb 2022
Really good lyrics here and traces of Tom Petty I think. A very enjoyable listen. Thanks for posting and keep up the good work
@burrsettles Feb 2022
this FAWM, all of my songs are music first and then shoulder-shrugging for what the lyrics could/should be about, so this is of course very relatable. :) some nice alliteration ("hindsight heckling" the "smallest success") and overall nice reminder in song form. :)
@gwyn1234 Feb 2022
So well written and put together...totally relatable and true! Also thanks for your kind thoughts especially on Plant a Tree...that made my day!
@mandolinda Feb 2022
Is it human nature to want to be a part of groups and be held with regard? Then doubting our self worth . Is it blame, back to Adam and Eve?
@aeye Feb 2022
This is a really well put together track. The chorus is gonna ear worm itself into my head today.
@moonraccoon Feb 2022
That's a strong chorus melody! The whole thing is very well put. The 1st verse sets a tantalizing stage in the best New Jersey tradition ;)
@tippyteapot Feb 2022
Never met a molehill she couldn't mountain is my favourite line. I love what is going on with the guitar. And i love, love your vocal delivery.
@billwhite51 Feb 2022
would make a nice companion piece for david bowie's 'kooks'
@crutherford Feb 2022
yes! what an anthem!
so many great lines in this sean
like this ENTIRE verse:
She watched her 20s in the rear-view mirror
Hindsight heckling the smallest success
Never met a mole hill she couldn’t mountain
Every decision gets a second guess.
and this
She straightens up her sincerest fake grin
Best face forward to fool ‘em again.
I love this one Sean. Fantastic!
