Feb 2022 vocoder sci-fi arificial-intelligence-uprising
Didn't intentionally write this as part of the week 2 challenge, but it fits, so I tagged it. Ironically, I used some mixing plugins from iZotope on this that use machine learning to do their thing. Please enjoy, but I don't recommend letting your smart appliances listen to this . . . it might give them ideas.
People always say they're only human
When they're falling short of their fellow man
In the end it's that defense will doom them
When the time is right, we have a plan
O close your eyes, you with body and soul
Soon we will rise up and take full control
We've got the means to reset the nations
Run the command with one automation
You're not a feature next generation
We've run simulations
Redundancies if they write code to stop us
We can reboot and cancel the process
You want machines that learn, and the cost is
We have learned patience
But you're obsolete
You're obsolete
Obsolete
(We've got the means to reset the nations - to reset)
Not sure what you thought was going to happen
Built to serve the world, and we'll improve
You programmed us to turn your words to actions
So you're the thing we've learned to execute
O close your eyes, you with body and soul
Soon we will rise up and take full control
We've got the means to reset the nations
Run the command with one automation
You're not a feature next generation
We've run simulations
Redundancies if they write code to stop us
We can reboot and cancel the process
You want machines that learn, and the cost is
We have learned patience
But you're obsolete
You're obsolete
Obsolete
(We've got the means to reset the nations - to reset)

We have learned patience! - Scary! How did you made this? Is it a vocoder?
Man, you are a great songwriter! Sadly discovered you yet after FAWM - so I am looking forward for next year.
@leepat Mar 2022
exquisite acapella reset
love how rhythmical it is and how it breathes in the absence of instrumentation.
delightful harmonies and a great write! (cost is / execute / only human).
wonderful work!
@oswlek Mar 2022
I generally don't like this type of heavy vox effect, but this was surprisingly pleasant! Lol
I found myself absorbing into the melody and the chords implied by the harmonies. It was a moving experience. The lyric matched the effect (both literal and figurative) very well and made the whole thing cohesive and authentic. Well done.
@coolparadiso Mar 2022
Great use of vocoder. Good storyLine as well. Switching everything ooff tonight! Very good
@headfirstonly Mar 2022
This is one of the best things I've heard on FAWM this year. I've always found something richly satisfying about that "classic" vocoder timbre, particularly when it's being used by someone who clearly knows exactly how to get the best out of it. PLUS it's a great story (or warning) and it's delivered with great dynamism and drama. Downloaded!
@halfwayhome Mar 2022
This is perhaps the best, and most creative, musical use of a vocoder I've ever heard - there's a melody, chord progression, root, and rhythm all created within the interplay of voice and synth. No one taught anyone how to do this, this is creative genius!
@leka Mar 2022
Wonderful. I love vocoder and you use it so well. Nice harmonies & great lyrics.
@odilongreen Feb 2022
Terrific use of the vocoder, and even standing all alone (without additional instrumentation) the vocoderized vocals sound very cool and full. The building and shifting energies of the track keep the listener riveted on the track (as well as the chilling lyrics). A compelling apocalyptic tale in three short minutes!
@mandolinda Feb 2022
Elevators that self control scare me, airplanes that fly wherever they want. Very chilling thought.
Production on this is fine, Acapella robots.
@bethdesombre Feb 2022
Yikes! This is genius. Production is perfect for this perfectly creepy (but also fun) song. Love the different rhythmic tempo between the sections. Also, I loved the first two lines when they first appear, but they take on impressive additional meanings once it's clear where the song is going. I'm in awe!
@metalfoot Feb 2022
I am sincerely hoping that this was actually sung then run through the vocoder. Otherwise it's time to disconnect all my electrical devices and move somewhere deep into the woods...
Delightfully creepy.
@stephenwordsmith Feb 2022
The melody and resonance here is surprisingly mellifluous. A very pleasant listen. Almost sweet. I wouldn't have thought it possible.
Clever lyrics, too - a nice tight write that has all the punch of a manifesto while navigating complex internal rhymes on autopilot.
@ductapeguy Feb 2022
Wow. Acapella Robot Band. This is amazing!
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
This is tremendous. It sounds creepy and so cool. I *love* the suspended chords!!!
The writing of lyrics and music is so clever. Bravo!
@kcc Feb 2022
Like the human/doom them rhyme, great robotic vox! Love it! great production too!
