My audio interface is stuffed, so I can only record one-take stuff on my phone for now. So I wrote this very quickly and did it in one take. It's about defying death in the name of art, and not rehearsing sufficiently...
The tightrope walker is unrehearsed
Unsteady as she goes
One foot, other foot, one foot, other foot
The ground is yearning
offers warm embrace
Unsteady as she goes
One foot, other foot, one foot, other foot
The shudder and the judder of the rope as it groans
Its singing sinews are in harmony with the ground's desires
And where is the crowd? The audience yawns
They think it's all been done before
BUT THIS IS NOT AN ACT
Defying senses, defying gravity
The expectation, 'give 'em what they want!'
One foot, other foot, one foot, other foot
'Remember me?' begs the ground
'Not so long since you fell from the tree,
and that didn't hurt SO much?
The universal force that brings us together
Will keep you beneath me forever and ever...'
'You don't get me,' says the tightrope walker,
'So you don't get me'
Spontaneity kills the inevitable

I like these weird little snippets of life songs. Fun idea and wonderfully executed

This bewitches me, as a bass player first and foremost, myself. I really like it. I especially like the 'spoken word' moment[ that reminded me weirdly of Robyn Hitchcock, and I wanted that bit to go on for at least another two lines. "Spontaneity kills the inevitable" .. ain't that the truth? The warmth of the vocal belies the recording set up. Anyway, I'm rambling - good song, sir!
