I heard about this term on NPR. Seemed as good as anything to write a song about
The sunlight ascends earlier each day
The distance to our neighbors is further away
We rise with the rooster
Go to sleep with the Crow
The ground yells softer
A time without roads
So many wars have ended this way
Turning around with nothing to say
The distance between us is General Mud
There's nowhere to go
A time without roads
And we wait a little longer before we sow our seeds
And it takes a little longer to receive what you need
Years made us older but the routines remain
Nothing to give, Nothing to gain
The cranes overhead just laugh at our show
Then get lost in the sky
A time without roads
And we wait a little longer before we sow our seeds
And it takes a little longer to receive what you need
Hardened by ice, hardened by sun
The time in-between where nothing gets done
Still rise with the rooster
Still sleep with the Crow
But we dream with the crane
A time without roads

Love this one too. You make it (writing, singing, and playing) sound very easy - makes me as listener feel like I'm in safe hands... and I can connect deeper with the song.
... if that makes sense!! It's late, I gotta go to bed!

I like the little melodic guitar in the accompaniment. Lots of great lines. Delivered well. I like the quick/long pattern of the lines in the chorus. Nice song Eric!
