Feb 2022 rock short humour drummer-jokes relentless be-careful-what-you-wish-for
I've noticed over the years that if I keep going after writing a couple of songs in a day, the third one turns out to be a keeper. I honestly had no idea of the punchline before I wrote that last verse, but afterwards it was pretty dang obvious...
Edit (Feb 18th)
But mixing three tracks in one day? Bad idea. Fresh ears revealed a mix that was all over the place. That has now been rectified.
Every gig needs a rehearsal
for our performance to be top
I hate appearing controversial
but it's time we need to stop
In every room full of musicians
there'll be that guy who tags along
And while he hits things with precision
he does the same in every wretched song
We've been stuck in here for hours
I think someone is going to snap
Look for blame, it won't be ours
'cause all the drummer does is go crash boom chicka bap
And while the singer's making faces
he's not as calm as he appears
We know there's trouble when the bassist
plays with his fingers in his ears
The lead guitarist looks like thunder
radiating misery and gloom
For it was he who made the blunder
Told the drummer not to play chicka bap crash boom...

I love it! So funny! The lyrics are great and your production sounds great, the different parts feel natural and your voice sounds strong. Does it need epic drum solos?
@jmadison Mar 2022
Oh I love the humour! Fantastic production too. Oh the bassist with his fingers in his ears. My, my... Love a good drummer joke. :-)
@mikeskliar Mar 2022
Ha - great fun! And drawn from life!
@wolfkier Feb 2022
Ah, but where would we be withuot our skin beating buddies...
Actually in my life I've learned more about music from drummers, and made some of the longest lasting friendships, than any other musician/teacher... but I get the good humor and so do they...
That guitar is super yummy. Well done.
@cblack Feb 2022
Ha! Loved the lyrics! Nice work. :)
@tamsnumber4 Feb 2022
This is great, obviously relatable, really like that instrumental break, a nice production and love when you sing "Chicka bap crash boom".
@gordon Feb 2022
Oh, wonderful stuff. Very relatable lyrics, for those poor sticksmen and women everywhere. Lovely production too and a head-noddingly good track.
@sw1n3flu Feb 2022
Crash boom chicken kebab!
This was hilarious even with attempt at additional bants
@heliosonorous Feb 2022
Fun track, the guitar tone and solo really shines on this.
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
I remember those sessions! some nice little rhymes in here as well. Shut that drummer up i want that guitar louder ha ha chicka bap crash boom my line of the day! did i mention i love that guitar
@blindkiwi Feb 2022
I wanna be that guy! wish I could keep that steady a beat going. Love the bass player line :D
@sbs2018 Feb 2022
Lol! Love it! PS - was reading the story of Dottie Dodgion, this female jazz drummer who played for many big names back in the day, and she said she was appreciated for just keeping time and not showing off. Maybe that’s a Jazz thing?
@ductapeguy Feb 2022
Wow. Do whatever you need to do to hire that band. The drummer is relentless and metronomic. The lead guitar player is colossal. The base never ever falters. You have a keeper here.
@sapient Feb 2022
Oh, joyful genius!
It's frankly how all band practices end up, isn't it?
Either that or the vocalist ends up trying to get behind the kit cos he thinks he knows better. And that never ends well...
@fuzzy Feb 2022
Ouch.
I think I'm one of those drummers.
We can't all be Ringo, you know.
Great echoing of the title in the percussion.
Funny lyrics.
Great guitar and bass lines.
I like it.
@jonmeta Feb 2022
Wow, the title line is perfectly locked into the rhythm, either which way you sing it. Clever rhyming all the way through. Such a heavy 2 & 4 with that underlying swing, this charges along like piledriver.
