Feb 2022 rock prog progressive-rock lots-of-guitars sequencers orchestra
From the "and this is why we can't have nice things" department: Seattle HD Radio station KUOW updated the bitmap file that's associated with its broadcast signal, but used a filename of KUOW rather than KUOW.jpg. It turns out that this was enough to brick radios fitted to recent Mazda cars. The radios would get stuck in a permanent diagnostic/reboot cycle because the filename didn't conform to expectations...

Great story. A software bug will be our downfall. Lovely guitars again. This time I hear a touch of happy nostalgia. Maybe for a time when radios weren't freakin' computers.

I like all the sounds going on in here, great solo tone, this gives me images of robots dancing at times, maybe in their car with 1 radio station.

very clever! but that prog really settles in halfway and i am back at late games and alcohol night in the early seventies. now late is 10!
@sbs2018 Feb 2022
Ha! This is just too funny! The way you captured it in song… I mean.
@panch Feb 2022
Another stellar piece of prog, to my ears a bit Focusy this one.
@aeye Feb 2022
This sounds awesome. I was getting some Alan Parsons vibes circa The Turn of a Friendly Card era.
@nadine Feb 2022
Great background story. I have this problem with Linux files on windows haha. Chris you can turn everything into a good prog song. I like the solo around 2/3.

Well this one is a perfect example of entertainment overload: we do not only get a rocking tune but also a hilarious/sad story about the error resistance of embedded components. Isn't SW development fun?

An awesome topic to build a track around. I love coming to your pages to be educated about these wonderful geek things. The tale is hilarious, the tune is magical! You are indeed the master of multi-layering, especially with those luscious guitars!
I'm detecting a few nods to the stylings of Mr Oldfield in your playing these days (and that's intended as a massive compliment). :-)
Love it!

As a lover of arps I recognize that you are one of us. You made great use of arps in the background of this song, very enjoyable, just like the guitars and the lead synth. Beautiful exploration of harmonies and melodies. Enjoyed the short breaks I first noticed at 2:45 especially!
Loved the liner notes.

Android Auto crashes in my Subaru and renders all the radio controls dead! Don't you just love/hate modern tech?
Sime nice guitar work here, as well as all those synths, etc.
@jibbidy34 Feb 2022
Whoosh! This is a prog rock beast! Especially liked that lead guitar noodling away halfway through...
@alfapenguin Feb 2022
I like this song - there's a log going on, but everything works together well and doesn't clash. A great listen!
