Another one-take-written-from-scratch-in-a-lunch-break job. I was messing around with Joy Division's 'Disorder' on the acoustic and thought it would be fun to try and write something that repeats the same chords all the way through. No capo, unusually for me. I think it's ended up sounding a bit Springsteen-y, which wasn't deliberate...
Recorded in one take in iPhone Voice Memos.
In fifteen years
you’ll be okay
Time heals everything
Just be on your way
Keep the wheels turning
And cement your plans
Be another man
Who forgets who I am
You’re never ever, ever
coming back again
You’re never ever, ever
coming back again
Cos you were only flying to Ecuador
You were only flying to Ecuador
The February chill
Carried ashes away
Aberrations happen
Every other day
You lived in utopia
a fly on the wall
Buried all the issues
Like a cannonball
You’re never ever, ever
coming back again
You’re never ever, ever
coming back again
Cos you were only flying to Ecuador
You were only flying to Ecuador
You wore a black fleece
Sitting in the front row
Looked like a martyr
To everyone you know
In a permanent fog
That will never clear
Six weeks later
They’ve all disappeared
You’re never ever, ever
coming back again
You’re never ever, ever
coming back again
Cos you were only flying to Ecuador
You were only flying to Ecuador
You were only flying to Ecuador
You were only flying to Ecuador

Great song, particularly love the hooky chorus, repeated to enhance the meaning. You definitely need to write more songs in your lunch breaks!

quality song, yeah it's influenced by the Boss, but that's a good thing! I am enjoying the obscurity of some of your verses and the directness of the choruses. As BenC says, lunchtime pressure recording is a huge win for you! MORE MORE MORE!

This is a masterful one-take. Like the percussive guitar playing and the vocals are very good, It does sound a little Springsteenish!

thought you were flying to Budapest! ha. Hadn't yet listened to this, has a cool beat to it and very well done for a one-take song!

lunchtime writing clearly working for you….. great vocal and love the beat going through it

Can totally get the Springsteen vibe there. Nice one.
