Feb 2022 blues rockabilly good-day bad-day silver-lining
I had this kind of funny idea of bad things happening, and still pointing out the back-of-the-hand bright side to those things.
I was hoping for more of a rockabilly sound, but ended up being kind of pop-ish. Oh well. I'm guessing this will become an earworm for me.
Look on the Bright Side [F#] - Jason Madison JRM
Had a little problem it’s a brand new day
Stepped out of bed in something like clay
Man’s best friend left you a gift today
Now you gotta limp to the nearest sink
Dirty a towel worse than you’d think
But look on the bright side you plan to shower anyway
You gotta look on the bright side (3X)
To make your day
You gotta look on the bright side (3X)
To make your day
On the way to the job in your car
Someone pushed the yellow light a little too far
You’re both smashed up thinking how bizarre
Now you gotta wait for the cops to show
And you gotta call to get a tow
But look on the bright side, you don’t have to walk too far
(interlude)
You gotta look on the bright side…
Showed up at the job too late
Never gave a thought to what is the date
It’s a holiday, you’re stuck outside the gate
Now you gotta call to get a cab
Dig enough change just to pay the tab
But look on the bright side, you’ve got time to wait
You gotta look on the bright side…
You’re back at home steppin’ thru the door
Should have raised your foot just a little more
Tripped and fell down onto the floor
Got back up with a hole in your pants
Hurt your shoulder and both your hands
But look on the bright side, you’ve got more pants in the drawer
You gotta look on the bright side (3X)
To make your day
You gotta look on the bright side (3X)
To make your day

Nice little jazzy song with a positive message. This is a very catchy melody too. Made me sing along. Great song!

sucker for a triangle rhythms. the second verse reminded me of a time i was on tour and my alternator broke down just before the holland tunnel into NYC. on the bright side, the tow truck actually drove me all the way to williamsburg for the gig before taking my car back to the garage, so i didn't have to drive through NYC rush hour traffic by myself or deal with brooklyn street parking.
so yeah, rings true. nice take on the blues. :)

Cool vibe. Sometimes songs just wanna go elsewhere than planned. Still I can hear that rockabilly in there. Great work!

This is a great vibe - The interlude goes a bit more jazz and pop fusion than rockabilly - but it totally works. And that interlude is great. I just love everything about this!
I really like how you arranged this. The octave vocals and percussion really round this out well.
This is almost too cheery . :) It's a good reminder. It's easy to look on the bright side when it's bright out - Less so when you are face planting.
Excellent work!
