Today marked the end of a process for me.
I've been getting to know the runes, and today marked the end of one method I have been using. The process has gotten, intense. Not in a bad way, but unexpected.
I've been learning about the power of secret things, which seems like a strange subject to write a song about, but there we are.
This is a devotional chant. I sat down with my drum, noodled and then just pressed record. I'm sure as I sing it more the melody with smooth out and all, but this is my offering of thanks.
It's new for me to share something like this, so please be gentle.
Rune of the day,
Tell me what will you say
Will my fate bear me towards good or ill?
Lines spin, stones shine
I draw what is mine
Knowledge secret for no lips to spill
Rune, rune of the day
Rune, rune of today
Frigg in your hall
Your spindle e'er falls
Spinning fates of all hid in the clouds
Your wisdom you keep
And never will speak
Holding joy and grief woven and wound
Rune, rune of the day
Rune, rune of the day
Rune, rune of today
Rune, rune of today
My path it will wend
It's long way to my end
And the journey will rise and will fall
My secrets I keep
Tucked away with my heat
Closely guarded
A treasury of myself
Named and reclaimed
Not for all
Just for me
For today
Rune, rune of the day
Rune, rune of the day
Rune, rune of the day
Rune, rune of today

Congrats on challenging yourself to do something so different. Holding joy and grief woven and wound is so lyrical!

Beautifully sung. I like the simple accompaniment. Hypnotic.

Oh, and I think this inspired my latest one! (https://fawm.org/songs/132682/) Thank you!

I really like this. Somehow studying the mysteries always shows you unexpected things, and nearly always in a good way. It's kind of magical that way. Or precisely magical, perhaps.

Nice. A calming elixir to all the guitars I'm had in my ears today.
BTW, on The Decent, my wife commented on the same line, and she rarely comments. Sometimes you get lucky.
