Our story continues:
You have reached the top of the mountain, and there...is a little old man.
He is very enthusiastic. He waggles his eyebrows and announces that your companion, the girl next door, is the Chosen One who will save this land from peril. He tells a whole story about how the land is under a curse that cannot be broken until the Chosen One completes three tasks that will free the people from the spell and turn the sky blue again.
The girl next door is excited.
You don't believe a word of it.
You keep thinking about that BIRD. The man is not the bird, but he reminds you of it, and you couldn't trust the bird either. You think you may be developing a "Never trust the helper figure" rule. You're also remembering the strangeness of the mirrors and the reflections you saw in them, and you're absolutely sure something isn't right here.
Or are you just jealous of the girl next door?
No, something isn't right. You're 100% sure of that.
Maybe 95%.
80% at the lowest.
The instrument in the video is a tabletop xylophone. Someday, when I am miraculously willed a rambling old country house by a great-uncle I never knew existed, I will have room for a real xylophone with actual resonators, but for now, this little thing is pretty fun to play around with and does convey "excited old mountain man who may not mean well" fairly accurately.

It’s great seeing this - and hear it too. Some nice melodic choices it seems to keep the interest.

There is definite eyebrow waggle in those opening lines! This has a nice upbeat feel to it - how can we not trust the old guy? But also uncertainty at the end. I have no idea who to trust.
