@adforperu: can't remember if I came across Kaeli's music in 2021 or 2020, but alas it is brilliant, and her track 'Something Special' is one of my favourite FAWM tracks of this year. I reached out in the hope of a collaboration and was delighted to find Kaeli up for it. She suggested a little acoustic tune, so I came to her with a fully electronic piece instead, oops. Alas, her vocals and lyrics were incredible and after a few tweaks to the arrangement and structure, it was born. Massive thank you, @bigmood!
If I don't get the job
'cause I never call em back
did I want it?
If I keep keeping on
can i keep it up for long
or will i bomb it?
didn't sleep too good
been a little on the edge
if I'm honest
'cause I just can't stop
there's a million other
places I am wanted
wanted
don't wanna take it anymore
I never get to play my six string
why does it have to be a war
I thought we learned this in the sixties
all right!
this is my life
this is my life
get so tired of the news
swear I'm laying off the liquor
if I make it
guess I'm glad to be alive
but its harder to survive
if I don't fake it
guess I have a lot to say
'bout the way the sausage is made
rots down the heat of the day
sunshine in the shade
bugs, bugs
bugs in the lemonade
don't wanna take it anymore
I never get to play my six string
why does it have to be a war
I thought we learned this in the sixties
don't wanna take it anymore
'cause every time you say you miss me
I got to treat it like a chore
I never get to play my six string
all right!
this is my life
this is my life
@fonte Mar 2022
This is even better third time round!
@fonte Mar 2022
Oh man. This is SO god. Love the rhythm of the bass and vocals combined, they feel like they are dancing with each other. Love the choice of drums. Gritty retro drum machine feel. The sparseness of the production in the verses works so well. Love the echo-y background synths when they come in. Vocals awesome, super cool, naturally. Extremely hooky, all the way through. Sounds like a track people!!!
@hanley Mar 2022
Holy smokes, where has this been the last 2 weeks of my life?! So good in every teeny way. Killer synth lines throughout, and the perfect tempo and mood for the amazing vocals.
There's so many magic little moments in this, I'm going to have to listen back repeatedly to make note of them all.
It's all just so darn catchy and vibing! The vocal delivery and playful melodies shine all over this, what an awesome collab. More from you two please!
@balancelost Mar 2022
Never heard bigmood before but these vocals are incredible. Can't believe this is on fawm. Sounds pro. Great melodies and the delivery in the lyrics is spot on. I'm a sucker for an 80s sounding synth and these all match together so well.
@mikedebenham Feb 2022
Excellent lyrics and vocals. That jaded edge on the 'all right's is perfect. Lovely arrangement by Ad too (of course), understated when it needs to be, but lots of great stuff to listen to. This is top notch.
@davidtaro Feb 2022
When you finally get to the 'bugs in the lemonade' moment it's wonderfully cathartic! Brilliant build to that point. Love the space in the arrangement and that very bold bass synth part. 'I never get to play my six string' is an obscenely cool line. Great collabing!
@shortdan Feb 2022
I'm really liking the sparse electronic arrangement here. Reminds me of some of the popular early 80s electro-pop (thinking Yazoo kind of thing). The vocal work is great and it all works really well. Top collab work folks!
@frenchcricket Feb 2022
Wow, those vocals. This sounds so lush and so clean and so... radio??? So much space and (no pun intended) mood. Incredible stuff.
@tinear Feb 2022
Dig the minimal arrangement with the synth bass providing the main groove and that simples beat.
@theawkwardsleep Feb 2022
thought this was gonna be fantastic, and of course, it is. kaeli's got some gorgeous vocals, such perfect restraint and control in her vocals. Great instrumentation. Can't really understand how you churn these out, adam. its kinda insanity. every one you do is just so fantastically different from the last. you guys should do more collabs in the future. -ru
@owl Feb 2022
Love this! Smooth as butter mix and performances but with a really quirky lyrical and melodic sensibility.
@splittybooms Feb 2022
Ohhh LOVE this vibe.
These radio-ready vocals, and right up my listening alley musical backing...this needs to be out in the world right now.
I actually read these lyrics a few days ago before I was able to listen to the track and liked them a lot. I mean, the title alone is awesome, then reading the actual premise of the song, it was like, "yeah...i feel this" (not the six string thing for me; it'd be more like my little ukulele that hasn't seen light outside its case in over 2 years)
LOVE the electro feel and all the great sound choices for the music.
Every single sound was perfect for what it brings to the overall vibe. Lovely synth bass sound playing a nice simple but very effective line under that nice electro pop drum programming. Gives a subtle bop that goes so nice with that smooth vocal melody of the verses.
Just little cool lines and melodies throughout.
The section about where the sausage is made - everything happening there is amazing from both of you...oy that section is so cool.
Wow yeah, this has made my day!
Perfection.
@karlsburg25 Feb 2022
oh guys this is awesome. I love the understated 80s groove of the synths and taht bass line is simply addictive. But ooo the melody creation and the sparring almost between the vocals plus harmonies make this an absolute winner. Great chord progressions whilst keeping the groove going throughout. Really clever lyrics where somehow the phrasing of the words with sixties and six string grab the listener. Top work
@hbusse Feb 2022
Oh yesssssss! This is so darn cool. The combo of the electronic groove with her oh-so-unique voice. I’m just going to have to listen to this multiple times now.
@cblack Feb 2022
Wow, this is nice! Such a strong vibe in the interplay between the vocals and background synths. Especially the bass line.
This is really good. Well done, both of you!

La Roux! This is fantastic.
@melaniepegge Feb 2022
This is totally brilliant. Such a good collaboration. It's so immediately engaging and keeps you there the whole way through.
@sw1n3flu Feb 2022
Fuck me you know how to collaborate with awesome female vocalists Ad! This is gorgeous, ludicrously good.
@santadharma Feb 2022
This is amazing. The electronic track with these sweet light vocals is a wonderful match. Lyrics are awesome as well. Just abstract enough to communicate a feeling and leaves the mind to wander/wonder.
@princesssavania Feb 2022
A bop and a half. Dope collab!!
@andrewrusse Feb 2022
Wow. This is amazing. Love it.
@warriorchild Feb 2022
The lyrics are great. Very nice arrangement, including the slow climb into the chorus.
@thelowestbitter Feb 2022
Fantastic collab, love that simple 808 beat (? I think but I'm not a drum machine expert). That synth bass is a great foundation for the song, and bigmood's vocals are brilliant in this. So many cool harmonies here. Particularly like the "all right"'s. Excellent work
@paulh1237 Feb 2022
This is all gold - I especially love the high vocals for the "never get to play my six strong" agaisnt that low bass groove. Great Collab.
@susyblue Feb 2022
Oooh so lush I love it!! Firstly those velvet vocals, amazing. Love the spare - well at first - electro pop low down which contrast those honey box perfectly. Gorgeous collab
@vomvorton Feb 2022
Ooh that bass is bouncy, rubbery and lovely. Really like the space in this mix, plenty of room there for a killer vocal. Which obviously @bigmood delivers! Excellent lyric too, captured something universal here.
@sailingmagpie Feb 2022
Well, this is a straight up banger! Love those Kate Bush-esque vocals when they slide up into the higher range. The "...in the sixties" line is fantastic. And I haven't even mentioned how top notch the production and arrangement are. Brilliant collab.
@leepat Feb 2022
excellent! finger on the pulse of the zeitgeist or something.
lyrics are gem after gem but the six-string @ sixties is the highlight for me (esp. with the coda twist)
perhaps you’d have more time if it was a four-string?
@eargoggle Feb 2022
This is so good. So many good lines in the lyrics, I like especially how you don’t get to the bugs in tjr lemonade until near the end, the whole sausage is made…so good.
@scottlake Feb 2022
That third beat bass note against the fragile vocals and the clever lyrics and the counterpoint lines; it’s just all so delightful.
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
beautiful drum sound up front! great vox the lyric flows through it! top class song again!
@skyezor Feb 2022
Truly this is so lovely! Hope you guys end up doing more collabs- this has a really nice feel and groove.
@judypie Feb 2022
The Zombies meets St Vincent :D The mash up we didn’t know we needed!
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
Haven't heard a song like this in FAWM yet (and I've heard a lot of them!) and this definitely fills a niche I didn't know I needed. Expert vocals and harmonies, and the instrumentation slaps. Tremendous job.
@deena Feb 2022
I love everything about this!! Great vocals, lyrics, music and production!
@thedutchwidows Feb 2022
This is lovely. The vocals are stunning and lyrics excellent, and the music is sublime. What a fantastic collaboration. More please.
@itneverhappened Feb 2022
Love that 80's synth sound. And the sparse backing of the vocal, which is great. Has that kind of odd "I feel Love" vibe, though it's quite different. Brilliantly produced too.
@kendrakinsey Feb 2022
oh, gosh. the lyrics are so relatable it hurts. This reminds me a lot of Sylvan Esso in every good way. I really love this yall. "'cause every time you say you miss me I got to treat you like a chore"
