this was meant to be a quick day-after-valentines thing.
i scribbled the choruses.
then couldn't particularly think of any verses.
so i thought i'd just do some spoken something or other.
i was going to do the spoken part impromptu,
but i ended up writing down stuff which i pretty much stuck to.
then i was gonna do a quick sloppy first-take video
and that would be that.
but i was too lazy to do it on the 15th.
and almost too lazy on the 16th.
then i thought it would be funny to play with a gaiter fully covering my face.
my quick practice attempts indicated that it was slightly possible to whistle and play harmonica even with the cloth over my face.
but i tried it twice, and both whistling and harmonica just didn't go.
so then i did it without my face covered.
and then i tried to make the audio slightly better,
because the video was really quiet and ...
well, i think i improved it slightly.
i'm tempted to do a better recording sometime...
mainly to do some better scat-whistle-harmonica bits.
but the temptation will probably be fleeting.
the morning after...
reminds me of my first fawm
when i wrote that song about an old candy heart
left in a pocket and forgotten
for months
somewhere along the way
a little rain got in there...
and so i sing these songs of mine
filled with plaintive melodies
my every song is a valentine
half off on the fifteenth
that reminds me of that cobain song...
and all the heart-shaped boxes i made back in the day
full of grape nuts
and fashioned from the cereal box...
there was that one time
i almost had someone to send them to,
but the timing was just off...
and so i sing these songs of mine
as seductive as you please
my every song is a valentine
riddled with Cupid’s disease
that reminds me of dave grohl’s book
that i finished reading last week
on the train up to šumperk
so i could give it to the drummer
of the local band SIOUX...
and he was talking about how
he met the girl from the heart-shaped box video
much later...
maybe getting fitted for the oscars...
maybe somewhere else...
and people are always asking me
so i always tell them,
look:
a good story makes a good book
or a good writer can make a good book
many times you get neither
sometimes you get both...
and so i sing these songs of mine
waiting for harmonies
my every song is a valentine
on bended bloody knees

Sounds like you had a good time creating this song - super creative and I love the stream of consciousness that you might have followed while writing it. I like the combination of talking and singing. I am thinking you are playing and singing at the same time - it is hard to talk and play! Cool whistling and harmonica.
