Feb 2022 fang-pop smooth-music vampire fuzz ccwelcome
Finally a proper second installment to the story. Here, following the opening, we find the aforementioned lady in the house on the hill dissatisfied in her life as a vampire, and despite being viewed from a much longer life, the struggle to continue on a course that seems to offer nothing but duty is not so strange.
I'm going for a kind of Sea and Cake/Pavement vibe here, and to be honest I'm thrilled at how it turned out. Even if I did write myself a vocal melody that crosses my break about a million times.
For the fuzz challenge - not the standard, for sure, but I love the sound of this ratty little fuzz, handbuilt for me by @armstid once upon a time. And you get two solos, so there, finally an entry.
It's the only way she knows.
She herself is a cave full of echoes-
a system repeating,
a phantom filled house.
Ancestors come sometimes and peer out
as she shuffles the arcana deck,
her sadness a test
for the girl who is death.
The white hand, tipped with claws,
centuries sharp, reaches and turns another card-
always one of the same three:
la mort, la papesse, la tour abolie,
the destiny she desperately seeks to escape,
this charade
One day her cards will come up.
She'll find her way out,
and take one last sobering look around,
at the place of annihilation,
the place of annihilation,
then finally a smile, flashing those gorgeous canines for the universe one last time-
lie down,
precipitate out into the great beautiful nothing.
But for now, the cards again, again she dreams.
She draws one claw across the cage of the lark,
metal rings,
but the bird doesn't sing.
Her white lace negligee,
decorated with gore,
awaits a thousand more.
Chorus
Can a bird sing only the song it knows?
Can a bird sing only the song it knows?

Nice groove, nice melody, Very sad lyrics, a sad story, but well told. Of course, all vampire stories have tragedy at their core, somewhere.
Oh, and if you sing up and down past your break enough, that part of your voice will get stronger. It'll never be as strong as the rest of your range, most likely, but it can stop being a break.

The lyrics of that last verse are stunning!

Fang pop? Is this gothic rock going pop and chill? The type of music Buffy and Eclipse needed? So fun to listen a groovy pop song with creepy lyrics. Love the drama in your voice.

Another gorgeous song! I enjoy the laid-back feel that the music here has to it, very well written lyrics again with a vivid imagery, and I am amazed at the range of your vocal abilities. Hats off!

That gentle treble guitar tone is just lovely. Great vibe in the arrangement. Really interesting storytelling . Super cool tune!

Love that sound, it’s gorgeous. The drama in your voice is great. Though if I would have just listened I could never have guessed the song told a vampire story. Goes to show what a creative place FAWM is.

that's definitely an excellent entry into the fuzz lexicon. your voice kind sounds like david bowie here. anyway, it's got a catchy groove, the lyrics are fascinating, and the guitar soloing is excellent. also, it's dynamic.
did you switch pickups between the two solos?
bravo!

At first I thought you said vampire jazz, a genre I would love to hear. You're hitting the sweet spot for me here. Reminds me of how much I loved Aztec Camera back in the day. Man, this would be great if you weren't half the singer you are. Love it all--and then that ending, yes!
