Staring at this coffee cup Starting out slow
I'm still tasting last night's jalapeno
Washed it all down with Tequila and lime
Now I'm having a real hard time
Chorus:
When I got high, high as the sky
I didn't know how low I could go
No one to catch me When I fall
It's a long way down, when you're feeling small
Can't remember what I did last night
When I drink Tequila, it always ends a with fight
Can't remember much of anything and yet
I still remember what I was trying to forget
I'm not ready to quit
But I'm thinking about it
I don't know
if I can live without it

Such nice moves, harmonically, on the chorus here. And I like the nice hard smack in my headphones of the snare and sloshy hats (or tambourine?) just makes me think of some other poor sod's hangover, without giving *me* an actual headache! :-)
Your "I'm not ready to quit.." lines hit home for me, even if it's not tequila and a hangover I'm talking about :-) We all have something :-)

That Chorus is perfect. I like the low / high contrasts.
The drunk examining his addiction is a country theme as old as the Blessed Hank Williams. I was brought up on Country and Bluegrass it is a great genre for social comment and personal examination. This is a fine song in the tradition.
