Feb 2022 rock indie-rock fun-rock clarinet melodica trombone trumpet
ZeCoop: I wrote this one specifically with Helen in mind on the 7th and today she sent over the vocal along with a *clarinet* track! The lyrics and vocals were super fun, the song already was a bouncy tune and since she added a clarinet solo, I felt I had to play my horns on it as well. I got my trombone out (the one thing I can still kind of play), the trumpet I got off craigslist three years ago (can't really play trumpet) and then a melodica came into my head. So that is what I've been up to all night. I managed enough notes on the trumpet to comp together something that sounded ok. After 20 minutes of ‘playing', more air was escaping out of the sides of my mouth than was going into the horn, haha. After that, melodica and trombone were a piece of cake in comparison!
It was a TON of fun coming up with parts and then even more fun mixing and listening to it. Helen turned this song into a serious party with the lyric and her super fun vocal. But the clarinet really made me take a second look at the song - so cool! I love it!! :)
Helen: I had a lot of fun writing the top line on this and I love the addition of the brass. Really makes it for me!

I know you like to keep yourself to yourself
Don't like to mix it up with anyone else
I wanna break you out of that cycle
Let me tell you how it's gonna go
You and I are gonna have a real good time
So take my hand and follow me
You don't need to understand; just need to believe
You and I are gonna do something special
I wanna take you out on an adventure
And you can drop all of your apprehension
'Cause you and I are gonna have a real good time
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised
When you see the big wide world you've been missing
'Cause you've kept yourself inside
Too afraid in case the big bad wolf came calling
But there's no need for any fear
If you live like that you're gonna disappear
I know you think it's not the way things are done
But you and I are gonna have some fun.

Wow! this is amazing! Such a humungous sound. I loved the delivery of the lyrics. Great collaboration...
@nancycunning Mar 2022
This sounds great. Thank you for describing how the collaborating worked. I like how the instruments and the vocal feel like you are holding a lot of power in reserve, like a boisterous over the top singer is consciously trying to entice but not overwhelm a shy, retiring singee.
@toms Feb 2022
Oh man this is really good. The brass & clarinet sounds splendid to me. What a great vocal. Also, proves once again why the hideous looking T-40 bass is so good.
@pooka Feb 2022
This is really fun! Upbeat music supporting a slightly lower vocal. Sounds fantastic with all the gear! One of my favourites this year.
@tan482 Feb 2022
Good times indeed! I love the horns and clarinet. Great vocals .. just a great collab!
@valeriecox Feb 2022
Whoa, this is great! Horns. Oh my goodness. That's cool. This is funky, and rocky, and is just a mash up of genres. It's really cool. +1 for those incredibly awesome UK grown vocal cords.
@bachelorb Feb 2022
Loved the upbeat nature of this song. Honestly, I was listening for all the different instruments and forgot to listen to the lyrics! For me it was the “where’s Waldo “ of music.
This was great!! (....and I identified all the different instruments)
@vomvorton Feb 2022
Ooh brass section! Clarinet! These are super fun additions to an already excellent song. Love the lyric too, definitely relate to it (from the side of the person stuck inside, sadly, not the real-good-time provider!)
@nicetrip Feb 2022
I was instantly catched by bass line and vocal timbre and attitude. And wind instruments make the whole picture really rich and intriguing. Great song!
@dreamscuba Feb 2022
This is so good - all the instruments and vocals sound fab. The mix is very polished. This is a great song to listen to, with my feet tapping.
Some cool instruments...and that Silvertone amp has a great sound.
@johnnycashpoint Feb 2022
It's groovy! Got a real slowed-down Elastica feel to it, maybe something from ''The Menace' but haven't heard that album sfor 22 years so may be wrong! j$
@sph Feb 2022
Talking about a full band track! Love all these sound colours.
@fonte Feb 2022
Really cool track. Absolutely love the verse. Well done for getting a good take out the trumpet hats off to you for that!
@nadine Feb 2022
Brilliant! I'm in love with this beat and this unusual arrangement. Rock needs more clarinets. Never thought about this and YES!
@sw1n3flu Feb 2022
Bloody brilliant! The trumpet and clarinet…. that voice, those drums! What a collab guys! It’s 4;20 am here, I am awake.
@resonut123 Feb 2022
The horns definitely lend a good time feel, melodica and that cool clarinet too.
Nice vocals. Certainly a Fun song to listen to. Cool collab.
@danvaillancourt Feb 2022
YES! Trumpet! Trombone! Melodica! Clarinet! Rock and Roll! I had a real good time listening to this!
@guatecoop Feb 2022
WOW! This is awesome! So many cool sounds and elements coming and going! That's just it....It's great! I love it.
@nancyrost Feb 2022
I am in love with the sound of that trombone! A particularly tasty touch in an all-around tasty tune. Clarinet and trumpet and melodica too! And I want Helen to come take me on an adventure now. :-)
@b3nut Feb 2022
This is a great rollicking track, and just a bit delightfully sideways. I had a real good time listening to it, so I guess it's all true! ;) Great playing all around as well.
@metalfoot Feb 2022
What a bouncy track and wonderfully off-kilter (in a good way!) in tune structure and instrumentation!
