Feb 2022 acoustic singer-songwriter folk americana alt-country country
I have a lo-fi demo again today with my camping guitar and an iPhone recording. I'm still trying to write more upbeat songs. This one has a fast tempo.
I could hear your music through the closed door
Like a sound I had never hear before
You didn't get what you wanted
We got a different you
Now we're all reluctant fools
There's an ambiguity when you see me
I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to be
You didn't know what you wanted
I didn't know what to do
There we were two reluctant fools
Let the gods of the dead bicker over me
They haven't seen half of what I've seen
They won't get what they want
We'll let them talk
But honey, I am over and gone
I guess the abyss can dance now, we're off for the night
I still have one last dream so hold on tight
We'll still get what we want
Just enough is true
Here we are two reluctant fools
We'll still get what we want
Just enough is true
Here we are two reluctant fools

Thanks for taking a listen @standup! And for the kind comment.

I like this story about reluctant fools. In this place nobody gets what they want, it seems. Until the end. But still reluctant fools.
So I don't exactly follow the story, but I think I'm with ya.
